About our home

Our small apartment is located in the central Pyrenees, six km from France and next to Formigal, one of the biggest skiing resorts in Spain. You can get to the ski resort by bus every day during the winter season, but there are plenty of things to enjoy during the rest of the year.

Being a small home makes it handier to go out for a picnic and spend the day outdoors. Yet, it is also really comfy with a lift and a garage. It is perfect for disabled people who just want to breathe fresh air. It takes five minutes to get to a supermarket or a restaurant, and seven to get to the mains square which is full of life throughout the year. And, although the community hasn't got a pool, the public one is five minutes away.

In Sallent de Gállego, there are short, beautiful hikes. Walking for half an hour from our new apartment you can have a swim in a small, beautiful waterfall if you have river shoes. Or walk up to Lanuza or even Panticosa (the village), along the Lanuza dam. This a gorgeous sight of the Pyrenees.

The Panticosa spa has natural thermal waters and it is a unique experience since you can swim outdoors at 39 degrees Centigrade, even if the valley is covered with snow! The Romans discovered it and it worked in the 19th century. AS it was restored in the last decades, it has the latest technology and luxury.

If you can drive up to La Sarra, there are wonderful walks from that dam. But they are long, two hour hikes until you reach a higher dam, Respumoso. you need to be full of energy to get there and go down back.

A stage is put up on the Lanuza dam every year (a tiny village nearby), and there are music concerts from all over the world in July. You will have to walk for half an hour at night from Sallent to Lanuza to see the show, and then back home. Most people do it and they use a torch. I don't know what is best: the walk, the concert or just the sunset from the bleachers. Look up Pirineos Sur Programación on the internet.

You can also rent a canoe in the Lanuza dam as a day activity, or walk up to Formigal and its chalets to look at the valley from above. And don't forget to taste the French cheese.

There is a park with wild animals which you can watch while you walk for 8 km, La Cuniacha, about30 km away from Sallent de Gállego.

We also own two properties listed in LHS not far from Sallent, in Villanueva de Gállego (Zaragoza, Spain) and Cambrils (Tarragona, Spain). Trips to two or three of them can be set up.
