About our home

Our first floor apartment is centrally located in the beautiful, historic, coastal town of Sanlucar de Barremeda, in the province of Cadiz. Sanlucar is not your typical tourist destination, well know by Spanish visitors but little known by international travelers, so it is possible to get the authentic Spanish experience. The town itself is divided into three barios (high, low, and middle), each with their own unique flavor. Sanlucar is famous for its world class seafood, its local wine called Manzanilla and it is in the heart of flamenco music country. Sanlucar is on the Atlantic coast and is where the Guadalquivir river exits to the ocean - the same port that Colombus and Magellan departed to discover the new world. There are amazing beaches in the area and the town itself boasts a five km long promenade and beach. If you love Spain you will adore Sanlucar.

Where is it?

Buzzy restaurants
Sanlucar is famous for its seafood, wine (fino) and flamenco music. Lots of excellent places to eat for all wallets but generally very very affordable and top quality food.
Cool bars
Lots of bars to suit all tastes, very local in style, and regularly featuring some flamenco or Spanish-flavored Jazz!
Cozy cafés
Packed with great coffee (and pastry and ice cream) spots!
Retail therapy
The local market is simply phenomenal, packed with every imaginable seafood and incredible ambiance. There is a good mall outside the town with well known labels at great prices.
Bit of culture
Flamenco music, dance, art. Like many parts of Spain it is hard to find a month without a festival (fiesta) in Sanlucar. Big horse racing festival on the beach in August.
Walks in the park
Donana national park surrounds the western border of Sanlucar and it is the largest national park in Europe!
Spot of exercise
There is a great new 3km promenade along the beach front (which itself is a 5km stretch of beach); lots of bike lanes, swimming pools, golf, tennis, sailing, SUPing, kayaking, horse riding, etc. etc.
Day tripping
Day trips to Jerez de la Frontera, Seville, Cadiz, water parks all possible.
