About our home

Our home is a spacious three-bedroom flat (about 110sqm) on the third floor of a large apartment block. The master bedroom has a double bed, two built-in wardrobes and an en-suite bathroom. There is also a very small study room next to it. The second bedroom has a single bed and the third one, another single bed and an extra pull-out one. These two rooms open onto a small TV room. In the flat there is also a hall, a sitting-dining room, a second bathroom and a light, spacious and well equipped kitchen: fridge-freezer, dishwasher, electric cooker, oven and microwave oven; the kitchen also has a dining area. Next to the TV room there is a small utility room with a washing machine and an electric water heater. In the building’s basement there is a garage and the building also has a private courtyard and communal swimming pools (a bit small for adults but ideal for children).

More about us

  1. We are a family of two: Ana, a retired teacher of English and her 18-year-old daughter Natalia . We are both keen on travelling and are looking forward to visiting other countries. A relative or a friend might be travelling with us. If so, we’d be a party of three. We are experienced home exchangers and absolutely love this way of getting to know new places and people.

Neighbourhood

Being close to the bustling and dynamic heart of Santa Cruz, our street is ideally located in terms of amenities: within a five minute walk you’ll find four supermarkets, three bakeries, a chemist, a travel agent, a bus stop, a park, two children’s playgrounds, a gym, restaurants, cafés with terraces… Within a 30 minute walk you’ll find practically everything, as the city centre is quite small (but very nice to walk around!). We are also just a five minute drive from the beginning of the two motorways which lead to the North and the South of the island.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the capital city of Tenerife, the biggest of the Canary Islands. A very popular destination with European tourists for decades, it also has plenty to offer to those who prefer to be travellers rather than tourists. Some examples: beautiful, well preserved and full of historic buildings, La Laguna (10 km), the first capital of the archipelago, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site; El Médano (30 km) is a paradise for windsurfers; natural protected spaces like Las Cañadas, Teno or Anaga (ideal for trekking). The museums are well worth a visit, and the concert hal is home to an excellent symphony orchestra. The North Airport is only about 15 km away, which makes it very easy to fly for a short trip to any of the other islands.
If you are looking for a holiday in the sun, you’ll also find many places to swim in the sea and sunbathe within a 30 minutes’ drive. The most popular with local people, Las Teresitas Beach, is only 15 min away by car.
The best way to travel round the island is by car. I own a 10-year-old Opel Astra, which you can use if you decide to explore this beautiful island.
