About our home

Our apartment is just in front of the sea.
Located in Villaricos, a small Mediterranean fishing village with two small and beautiful harbours, one just in from of our home.
It has two floors (duplex stile). In the lower floor, you have an open kitchen, salon with sea views and balcony, two bedrooms and one bathroom. In the upper floor, there is a suite with bedroom and bathroom included and a huge terrace of more than 30 m2 with astonishing Mediterranean Sea views where at night you can dream looking at the Moon moving over the sea.
The apartment has air conditioned in the 3 bedrooms.
Villaricos is a small, unspoilt fishing village, both charming and tranquil, which maintains a typical Spanish feel. The atmosphere here in the village is traditionally Spanish, warm and welcoming. The village is located at the foot of the Sierra Almagrera Mountains.
Villaricos (Rich Village) derives its name from ancient silver mines, which have their place in history, as it is from here that Hannibal paid his mercenaries when he besieged Rome.
Along with fishing, local tourism is its main source of income. Its superb climate makes it a great destination, with its mild winters and the summer highs refreshed by the soft breezes from the Mediterranean Sea. There are two beaches; pebbled expanse that borders the village and next-door an unspoilt golden sandy beach. The latter is in sheltered bay which, although popular with locals, is never crowded. There are some excellent chiringuitos (beach bars) where those catching the rays can get refreshed. Villaricos has two harbours that sit each end of the village linked by a broad promenade with numerous places to sit and contemplate the Mediterranean Sea.
Villaricos is known for its crystal clear warm waters and it's fabulous diving and for those with their water wings there is a local diving school. Just beyond Villaricos is a rugged undeveloped coastline where you can relax in peace and solitude among the rock pools and sand.
There is a good selection of restaurants and bars with food at very reasonable prices and Spanish native cousin.
There is a nice street market every Sunday morning in the square.
There are some golf course very close to Villaricos, as the famous Desert Spring (http://www.desertspringsresort.es/home/holidays/golf-holidays/)
Crowded Mojacar is 17km away and Vera just 7km
Nearest airport is Almeria just 100 km away or Murcia around the same distance. Alicante airport is about 150 km and Malaga is 3 hours’ drive.
