Our 4 bed/ 3 bath holiday villa is in the Costa Blanca region of Spain. Javea is a cosmopolitan town with beautiful beaches and a mix of traditional Spanish...
Where is it?
The villa is located in Xàbia, Comunidad Valenciana, España.
With the Javea Golfcourt (3 min. by car), Old Town (8 min. by car), Arenal Beach (9 minutes by car), Moraira Beach (10 min. by car) you are in the middle of it all, but the place is nice and quiet. You need a car for your convenience. There are several big Supermarket's in the area, and if you don't feel like cooking there are many, many, many restaurants to choose from. Even a 2 star Michelin one within walking distance called BonAmb.
One of the nicest places with beautiful bays and beaches
The beautiful town of Javea is located at the mouth of the Rio Jalón and a beautiful bay adjacent to the Parc Natural del Montgó (Costa Blanca) where you can make beautiful walks. Javéa is surrounded by cliffs, caves, bays and has two rocky islands off the coast. 2 km east of Jávea is the lighthouse on the Cabo de San Antonio (174 m), with stunning views. 4 km south of Jávea is the Cabo de la Nao, the easternmost point of the coastal mountains
Here is one of the most beautiful beaches in Spain, Playa de Granadella (see below)
The historic city center
lies on a hill, about 1 km inland. Here are still nice town houses, narrow streets and the fortified Gothic 14-16th century Iglesia de San Bartolomé. In the neighborhood of this church is the beautifully covered market hall where you can buy your fresh produce daily and enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner at one of the restaurants and cafes at an affordable price. Around the church is the town hall, very beautiful Gothic palaces to admire and there are a number of cozy restaurants. Many of the buildings in the old center are built from the typical local stone, the beautiful golden colored Tosca sandstone
Coast - Beaches
Javea has a 20 km long coastline with a huge variety of beaches and bays (Calas), sandwiched between the Cabo San Antonio (north of Javea) and Playa de Granadella (south of Cabo de la Nao). On the coast many windmills that used to be able to mill the grain because of the strong wind that blows over the promontory
Playa El Arenal
Javea's only sandy beach is wonderfully sheltered in a beautiful bay. It is the place where tourists stay and very busy in the summer. A boulevard with many restaurants, terraces and shops runs along the beach. At the end of the beach is the Parador Hotel with beautiful garden and beautiful views of the bay from the terrace. Jazz concerts are regularly given on Sunday afternoons. Against the hills are white villas of the many foreigners who like to stay here in both winter and summer!
North of the Parador lies this cozy (pebble) beach with many relaxed chiringuitos with fantastic sea views. Because the beach is unprotected and open, the wind has free play and wind surfers can indulge themselves
Playa de Grava - Shopping streets
this small beach with pedestrian boulevard is close to the harbor. Here are the better restaurants, including Piri-Piri and Calimag restaurants; nice with sea view. Especially in the evening it is very atmospheric. In the streets behind the boulevard are the shopping streets and cozy bars
Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Loreto
In the Calle Pio X, behind the boulevard, you will find this church with its special design. The roof is built in the form of an inverted boat. The twelve columns on the outside represent the 12 apostles. Nearby is the Javea hotel (see below)
Duanes del Mar marina and fishing port
It is a bustling area where the fishing boats leave early in the morning. A visit to the fish market at the end of the afternoon is recommended. From the terrace of restaurant "Nau Nau" Club Nautica, you have a beautiful view of the (luxurious) boats in the marina. In this harbor you can go for all kinds of water sports, including fishing, diving and renting a boat. At the end of the harbor, at the roundabout, various walking routes start through the Parc Natural Montgó, including the PR-CV 355 Port Xàbia-Montgó
Beautiful small picturesque bays and small beaches
The south of Playa Arenal is an amalgamation of bays and small beaches, including the Cala Blanca (only accessible on foot) with a beautiful view of the Cabo San Martin, Cala Sardinera and the paradisiacal Cala Ambola (just south of Cabo de la Nao) . In these bays it is wonderfully quiet and you can snorkel well
Playa de Granadella - best 10 beaches in Spain
Further to the south lies Playa de Ganadella, which is in the list of the best 10 beaches in Spain! The pebble beach is located in a horseshoe-shaped bay with turquoise water, surrounded by jagged rocks and pine trees. This popular place is visited frequently in the summer. It is then urgent for a place on the 220m long beach. You have to put some effort into it, because the path to it goes through a pine forest. The beach owes its name to a small fort built in the 18th century, the remains of which are still visible today
