Sakara House, a fully refurbished period property in Ahangama, South West Sri Lanka - a mere 500m from the sea. The whole villa lives and breathes the touch of British designer Lindsay Taylor, who designed the house and its renovation in 2011.

The house has four bedrooms two of which are off the large airy internal courtyard with an elegant central water feature. These two bedrooms both have indoor/outdoor bathrooms and hard wood floors. Opposite the bedrooms is a large contemporary eat-in kitchen with granite worktops, a 6 burner gas hob, large oven and quality stainless steel double sink and taps. In the attached main house are a further two en suite bedrooms one with a stunning antique wooden ceiling.

As you enter the house through the original antique doors there is a large sala (sitting room) with a raised wooden platform. The room boasts an exceptionally high antique wooden ceiling. At the front is a large verandah.

Sakara House produces its own electricity with a 3.6 kW photovoltaic power plant on its roof, but it also has a single phase connection to the grid. Hot water comes from a solar geyser. A well supplies clean water in case the government water is off for whatever reason.

The house has good 4G Internet connection.
