About our home

A comfortable, yellow villa built in 1987 in a quiet and peaceful place in the world. From the beginning the house was run as a kindergarten. We bought it in 1999 for it was a spacious and practical house and not so "vulnerable". A house where we could live and play with our children. We have been in Japan 3 times, so some of our furniture and small things on the wall is from Japan - one room, the biggest one on the 2nd floor - has 12 tatami (straw mats). This is a room where you can play or do yoga or meditate.
The kitchen is very big and colourful, it reminds of a kindergarten. The kitchen is just next to the dining room, where we also have a piano and an aquarium. In one of the bedrooms we have a waterbed. There is also a library where we have a TV and a sofa that can become a comfortable bed. We just made the garden bigger so it's brand new.

More about us

  1. I am Ami, a choreographer and dancer who make my own plays for children. I also teach Japanese dance in Gotenburg Botanical Garden. My husband Palle, is a composer and a researcher working at the Gothenburg University - he also composes music to my plays. We travel a lot, so finally at home, we like to drink green tea and a glass of wine, read books or play wildly with our kids! Our sons Toste and Egil, 9 and 7 years old, have travelled a lot. The house also has a lovely cats, King Kong. She has her own little door and comes and goes as she wishes.

Where is it?

Brännö ( is a very beautiful and friendly island outside Gothenburg, Sweden's second largest city. 700 people live here allyear, 5000 in the summer. You come here with a ferry, it takes 15 minutes from mainland (and 30 minutes with the tram from the centre of the city, 15 minutes by commuter bus). There are virtually no cars on the island, except for a taxi and some tractors! We park the car on mainland by the ferry. Brännö is indeed very special with its nature and its old wooden houses. You can climb hills and have a breathtaking view over Gothenborg, the lighthouse and the sea, you can walk out to our neigbour island and meet only sheep, you can go to the local restaurant. You can become member in the local sauna and swim in the ocean even at wintertime, highly recommended. People who live here are teachers, psychologists, musicians, carpenters, actors, journalists, therapists, very friendly people.
