About our home

Our 19th century house is located by a lake in the beautiful and popular Sörmland countryside, about one hour by car or 40 min by train from Stockholm City. The estate is a very private location, surrounded by fields and active farms. The garden is 20.000 m2 with many fruit trees, flowers and berries. On the property there is also a loge and a storehouse.

The main floor has a kitchen, dining room with a classic Swedish fireplace "kakelugn" and door that open up to the garden, library/living area and one bedroom and a bathroom. Upstairs are four bedrooms, one bathroom, one extra toilet and a large living room with a fireplace.
The home is well equipped and the main part of the house was renovated in 2013.

The small town of Gnesta is 10 minutes away and has restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacy, cinema and some small local shops. The train from here to Stockholm City is about 40 min.
Sörmland and its surroundings are famous for its countryside and are one of the most popular counties in Sweden for holiday houses. Many of the great castles are located here, some still royal and some are privately owned.
Would also recommend the very popular towns Mariefred (http://www.imariefred.nu/do_main.aspx?m=3) and Trosa (http://trosa.com/en/) both located 25 min away by car. Mariefred has one of Sweden’s most visited old royal castles Gripsholm as a main attraction. (http://www.kungahuset.se/dekungligaslotten/gripsholmsslott.4.19ae4931022afdcff3800013027.html)
Also very popular small antique and home design shops, and the town are located right by the big lake Mälaren. It's also possible to travel by boat from Mariefred to Stockholm with traditional steamboats, which is very popular during the summer.

The nearest airport is Stockholm Arlanda airport about 2 hours away or Stockholm Skavsta Airport about 45 min away.
