About our home

Our home is a 2-floor villa, quite typical for houses of its age (30 years) in Sweden. The kitchen is quite small but very well organised. The kitchen, dining and living areas are open plan and on the 'top floor'. There are also two bedrooms (1 with double bed and the other with double sofa bed), a bathroom, separate toilet and small office on this floor. On the bottom floor we have a laundry room, bedroom (2 single beds), living room, toilet, shower room and sauna. There is a wooden deck outside the main living area which gets sun in the afternoon and evening. We have a good sized garden, which is mainly lawn.

More about us

  1. We are a British family who have lived and worked in Gothenburg for six years. My husband and I are both scientists. We have 3 children, though only the youngest (a teenage boy) lives at home, the older children are working and studying abroad. We have one cat, which we would prefer to stay at the house during an exchange (but could make alternative arrangements).
For 2 - 4 weeks during summer 2008, we want to stay in Scotland, specifically on the west coast (anywhere between Isle of Bute and Loch Torridon) or in the Highlands (Inverness area) or Fife / Edinburgh region.

Where is it?

Our house is situated to the west of Gothenburg city in a quiet residential area, 10 minutes walk from the sea, with a fishing harbour, marina and a small beach. It is 15 minutes drive or 30 minutes by bus to the centre of Gothenburg.
Gothenburg is a lovely city, with a variety of restaurants, museums, the opera and an amusement park. The rocky coastline to the north of Gothenburg is very picturesque and dotted with small islands. Inland are numerous lakes, forests and cycle trails.
