About our home

Welcome to our second home in the small village of Lönneberga, Sweden. It is also the setting of Astrid Lindgren's novel "Emil in Lönneberga". The village is surrounded by many lakes, typical Scandinavian landscape and is located in close proximity of the Baltic Sea. By car or bus, Loenneberga is only a few hours away from Copenhagen or Stockholm.

Our second home is nestled in a quiet and friendly neighbourhood. There is a large garden (1400m²), perfect for children to play in, and the nearest beach is only 900m away.

The house was built in the 1950s, but has been updated to modern standards. There are 2 bedrooms that can accommodate 4 or possibly 6 people, all mattresses are new. Recent renovations and additions to the house include air conditioning, a modern fire place, a small sun-room, a renovated bathroom, appliances and a garage. The living room is furnished with a sofa, Play Station 4 and CD/DVD hifi with radio. Our kitchen includes an electric oven, fridge and freezer, fast boiling pot, toaster, microwave oven and a dining area for six persons. There is a dish-washer in the basement, as well as a washing machine and electric dryer.

We like gardening. In our absence a friendly neighbour takes care of our garden, and we can also arrange for a cleaning person to come in.

We like it quiet, so there is no land phone line, but mobile-phone coverage is very good. If you need to be in touch with the rest of the world take your notebook with you and we will provide you a fast WiFi connection free of charge.

-Many unspoiled lakes and beaches in the vicinity, only 1 hour from the Baltic Sea
-Peaceful nature and safe surroundings, close to child-friendly "Astrid Lindgrens Värld"
-Scandinavian cultural events throughout the year, great antique-shop bargains everywhere

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Though located in a rural area, roads are good. There are good connections to Copenhagen, Stockholm and Gothenburg.

Typical red houses dot the area. The forests are covered with wild flowers, berries and mushrooms. There are plenty of birds, elk and deer in the area. Everything you need, including a beach, walking/biking trails (cross-country skiing in winter) and a supermarket, is within walking distance.

The towns of Vimmerby and Hultsfred are only a short drive away. A golf course, tennis courts, community centre with indoor pool/gym, great fishing, restaurants, shopping can also be reached in minutes.

The cities of Kalmar, Västervik and Oskarshamn on the Baltic Sea are only an hour away. The area has many interesting and unique tourist attractions (Elk Park and Astrid Lindgrens World), a healthy environment and plenty of fresh air.
