If you want to explore the vibrant life of Stockholm while enjoying Swedish nature and peace, this is where to stay.
We have a turn of the century home in beautiful neighbourhood; only four minutes by foot to lake Norrviken. You will also reach the commuter train in four minutes that will take you right to the city center in just twenty minutes. It leaves minimum six times every hour.
Our house was built in 1908, a wooden villa beautifully built in the old traditional Swedish jugend style, yet with all modern amenities. It’s a house with a warm, loving atmosphere contributed by the four tiled stoves and our antique furniture. The kitchen is newly renovated and so are most parts of the house. One of our great joys is the veranda where you can have your morning coffee or sip a glass of wine or have a bbq in the evening sun. You will find roses, peonies and other flowers in abundance in the garden, as well as a fishpond, vegetable garden and greenhouse.
In winter you can skate and ski on the lake when weather permits, in summer you can put on your bathrobe and just walk a couple of minutes and plunge into the lake, or walk a few more minutes to reach a small shallow beach, perfect for kids. There are lovely walks around the neighbourhood and in just 15 minutes you will reach Järvafältets nature conservation area with many miles of hiking trails. Thanks to the Swedish “right to public access” you are free to pick mushrooms and berries as much as you like. Speaking about food, there is a small but great food store in just a couple of minutes walk where you also will find “Percys” a famous deli with the best meat and delicacies ever.
So much for nature, but the real highlight is of course the city of Stockholm, one of the most beautiful cities in the world with its archipelago, it’s cultural life, it’s restaurant and bars, food, shopping and parks. There are so many thing to see and do. And after a bustling day in city you will thoroughly enjoy coming home to a friendly and calm house and neighbourhood.
