About our home

We live in a classic two-story Swedish house with a big backyard located in the residential town of Östersund in the middle of Sweden.

On the first floor we have two bedrooms, kitchen, living room, shower and laundry. Upstairs we have three bedrooms, bathroom with a bathtub, family room and a small living room. There are six beds in total, but there's also a sofa and an inflatable mattress available for sleeping. We also have a crib.

The house is connected to the district heating system so there is no hassle with keeping the water hot and the house warm. We do not have an AC since the summers here in the middle of Sweden rarely go above 20 degrees Celsius (68 Fahrenheit). You will have access to high speed internet and a big selection of satellite channels (we do not dub our movies here in Sweden so every movie channel is in their original language, usually English).

We have a car that you can borrow, it is a 1996 Audi A6 non automatic. As long as you fill her up you are free to use jer. We also have car seat for babies up to 10 kg (20 pounds) and a bicycle for growns ups.

In the backyard we have a trampoline, swings, a play house and a sandbox for the kids. There is also a playground in the neighborhood. We also have a big porch, partially with roof and glass doors and infrared heating, perfect for chilly summer nights. A grill, outdoor furniture and berry bushes (feel free to eat!) are also at your disposal.

Features

More about us

  1. We are a big family of six. We (Gustav and Helene) are the grown-ups and Alma (2), Vide (10), Milian (12) and Noa (15) are the kids.

  2. Helene is 34 years old, went to law school and works at the Swedish Enforcement Authority. Gustav is 37 years old and works as a graphic designer and within communication/pr. We have been married for four years and we've lived in our house for four years as well.

  3. We love to travel but it is always difficult to find accommodation when you have a big family. We are interested in discovering new places and meeting new people. We are hoping that switching homes with other families will let us see places we wouldn´t have thought of visiting.

Neighbourhood

Our house is located in the suburb of the residential town of Östersund, only a ten minute drive from the city centre. It's close to nature, with a bus stop only 350 meter from the house. The bus will take you to the city center in 20 minutes. The lake Lillsjön 4 km from the house offers free fishing along with countless of forest lakes, some of which require fishing permit. Only one hour away by car you'll find the Swedish fells for skiing in winter (season december to april) or trekking/cykling/fishing in summer (best season august to beginning of October). If you like skiing we have alpine skiing slope right in the middle of town and cross-country skiing tracks right outside the door.

There is an airport with several daily flights and trains to the capital Stockholm. Flight cost around 80 euro/$ per person one way and train tickets around 45 euro/$.
