About our home

The cabin is located on Gräsö "Grass" Island just off the east coast of Sweden. The Baltic Sea is a stone´s throw from the front porch.
The original cabin was built in 1963 and we added on and updated the house in 2014. There is a master bedroom with double bed, bedroom with both single bed and a triple bunkbed, and one sleeping alcove with a single bed. There is even an addtional small cabin 30 meters from the house with a double bed. The cabin is 93 m2 and there are 3 porches totalling 55 m2.

The kitchen has a modern standard with electric stove, sink, refrigerator and another refrigerator and freezer by the back door. Theres a fireplace, heatpump and electric heating for the winter season. We try to be eco-friendly so brackish water from our well is used for hot showers and in a seperate room is our Cinderella electric toilet. There is even a tradtional outhouse if you want to rough it. Drinking water we provide from the mainland.

Our favorite things to do at the cabin are kajaking or paddle boarding (SUP.) There is a calm "lagoon" in front of the house or paddle and explore nearby islands. Other things to do include picking mushrooms, blueberries, cranberries, lingonberries, birdwatching or fishing.

Often the most relaxing thing is to sit on the front porch and watch for eagles flying by, sailboats on the horizon or the shifting colors of the sea and sky.

Where is it?

The cabin is our getaway at the "end of the road" but one of our favorite things is to take the 15 minute ferry to Oregrund to eat at a one of the waterside restaurants: There are numerous events, concerts and festivals that take place in Oregrun ranging from "Boat Week", to Good Olde Days celebrating the Town's history as a bathing/seaside Community.

Every year there is a 3-day arts festival spread out over Gräsö Island where local artists shown their work at the own open-house studios or other local venues.

Another favorite is to take the pass boat to the nearby Orskär Island (15 minute boat ride) to visit the lighthouse and eat at the Island's restaurant.
