About our home

The apartment is suitable for a couple with interest in culture and history since it is situated in the heart of Stockholm. 79 msq in total at the second floor in the building. Perfect for nice walks and 5 minutes to the Royal Palace, the Cathedral, the Opera and the Nobel museum or the tubestation and buses. Quiet surroundings even though it's only 2 minutes walk to the main tourist street Västerlånggatan. Beautiful square in front of the building with a sculpture and benches. Bring out a cup of coffe and enjoy the athmosphere!

More about us

  1. Operaloving couple with interest in travel and culture with lots of friends all over the world. We live in the midst of Stockholm and Love it! We also have a house in the countryside and are able to swich both places and travel and switch non simultaneously. Since we are both retired we have time to travel and enjoy life together.

  2. Bengt has been working within the Insurance business and Gunilla has worked as a senior project manager within banking.

  3. We have grandkids in London and travel to Britain frequently so we are always interested in swaps or staying by points there. Also we prefer swaps during longer periods in warm climate. Since we also have a place in the north of Sweden we have the possibility to swap non simultaneously.

Where is it?

The old medieval town center of Stockholm (Gamla Stan) is full of interesting sites, museums and busy restaurants and cafes.
its buzzing with life during days but also magic during evenings when you can stroll the alleys and look up into the apartments and see old panels and roofs inside the apartments. Stockholm has around 80 museums and lots of good music at the Opera, Berwald hall and the Concert hall.

All Swedes are quite friendly and god at speaking english so you can ask for tips anywhere and to anyone.

We recommend you to take the Stockholm Ghost Walk in Old Town since its both interesting, scary and great fun!

Museums in Gamla Stan: The Royal Palace, the Nobel Museum, Museum of Medieval Stockholm. All museums are in Swedish and English.

Some museums of interest at Djurgården (available by ferry five minutes away from our flat) could be the famous ABBA museum which is great fun and interactive. The museum of Wasa: Swedens biggest failure in medieval time since the ship sank after only five minutes at sea! The Viking museum. Skansen outdoor museum. The museum of Liqour and many more.

Its also nice to take a roundtrip by the sightseeing boat and look at Stockholm from the water.

Five minutes walk to Södermalm which is the home to all Swedish hipsters. Look cool and stay trendy!

Buzzy restaurants
The Old Town of Stockholm is full of restaurants! For typical Swedish food like meatballs, elk and salmon try Slingerbulten at Stora Nygatan
Cool bars
Try 19 glas at Stora Nygatan and say hello to Peter the owner
Cozy cafés
In every corner! Try some at Stortorget or Under Kastanjen
Retail therapy
5 minutes walk to NK and Åhléns departement stores. Also lots of different shops in the Old Town. Avoid the souvenir shops at Västerlånggatan except if you really long for a vikinghelmet or Pippi Longstockings braids.
Bit of culture
In the midst of Historical Stockholm! Culture and history everywhere and signs in Swedish and English.
Walks in the park
Ferry to Djurgården close by. Walk the Royal Gardens for free.
Spot of exercise
Djurgården is perfect for biking, jogging or a strall in the parc
Day tripping
Stockholm archipelago
