About our home

We live on Selaön, a scenic island, (which is connected to the mainland with a bridge) It has about 3,000 permanent residents and more in the summer. The used to be inhabited by vikings and has a vikingafestival each year. There is a fantstic bakery here, a high quality butcher shop selling local meat, several small antique shops, a grocery store, a beautiful old castle and several fine biking trails and bathing areas. Sweden has the Right of Public Access which gives everyone the right to roam pretty much anywhere in the countryside as long as you do not harm the environment. It's a very nice scenery and sometimes when you drive you can see wild animals such as moose, deer and boar.
Ten minutes from us is Mariefred, a medieval town with its preserved castle and old buildings. An hour from us by car is Stockholm. You can easily get there by train as well.
In the summer, the garden in full bloom. It is beautiful but also involves some maintainence so if you want to visit in the summer it is perhaps a good thing if you are interested in some gardening as well. We have a cat who would like to have food and be placed and the sometimes. If you would like to bring your own pet or if you would prefer a pet free vacation, we can arrange for our cat to stay with friends.
