About our home

We have a spacious light apartment with lots of windows. Art and interior decoration is important to us. We have one small-ish double bedroom with access directly out onto the south-facing balcony, one large bedroom with a single bed and a third bedroom that is also a single room used by our older son.
There is a fully equipped kitchen and an eating area with a large table and six chairs opening out onto the living area. The living room is the hub of the apartment with a large corner sofa, armchair and coffee table of reclaimed wood.
The bathroom has a bath and shower and washing machine. Here it is possible to hang clothes over night and they will be dry the next day.
The apartment is warm throughout the winter and with the windows that are possible to open, cool in the summer.

More about us

  1. Our family consists of Chris (47) and Sara (52) and our two sons Casper (17) and Noah (15). Chris moved to Stockholm from England in 2000 after meeting Sara whilst studying Art Therapy at University. Chris now works as an Art Teacher at an international school and Sara as an Art Therapist with young people within a mental health setting.
Both Casper and Noah love playing football and listening to music and the whole family love traveling- particularly to warm places. We have enjoyed three major holidays outside of Europe- to Tanzania, New Zealand and Ethiopia, and we have traveled by train down to the South of France, but we are now getting itchy feet again.
We have never used home exchange before but have had friends stay at our apartment while we have been away and so this feels like the perfect next step.

Where is it?

Despite being close to everything that the city has to offer, we can hardly hear the city as the apartment is set away from the street with large, well maintained courtyards on both sides. It is less than five minutes to the nearest underground station and a large number of bus stops taking you wherever you wish to go throughout the city. A 15 minute walk in the opposite direction takes you to Hagaparken- a vast and nature area with parkland, woodland and a lake to swim in, canoe on or walk around. The Princess Royal lives here in Haga Palace and there is a butterfly museum which also has sharks in an aquarium.
If you choose not to travel by public transport, it is a 25 min walk to the centre of the shopping district and another 10mins will take you to the palace and beautiful old town. Stockholm has plenty of very high quality child-friendly museums, many of which are free and has an excellent music and arts scene.
Stockholm is spread across 14 islands and is the gateway to the 24,000 islands of the archipelago. Swedes love the outdoors, and the potentials are endless for winter and summer sports. It is only a couple of hours to the closest ski slopes, one can skate in our local park or if you need to rent skates that is possible in the city parks.
