About our home

Our house is a modern and family friendly home built in 2007. Downstairs we have the kitchen with a dining table, the lounge room and also a “kid’s area”. There are big windows in the lounge room overlooking our garden which is very child friendly with a trampoline, a swing and a playhouse. As part of our garden we also have an outdoor room, decorated as a lounge room. Perfect for Swedish summer nights.

The bathroom downstairs has a tub and is also joined together with the laundry room. Upstairs we have three bedrooms and a bathroom with shower. We also have a third floor, consisting of a tower room, which we use as a second TV lounge room. From up here you get a nice view over the lake nearby. The street where we live in is a quiet dead-end street with really nice neighbours.

More about us

  1. We are a family of 4; Ida and Marcus and our two children Cornelia, 6 and Casper, 2 1/2. Ida works as a market coordinator at a producing company in Växjö and Marcus is a business analyst at Kronoberg County Council. We are interested in many things, but more specific we like the sun, swimming and exploring things as a family, and what can be better than swapping houses and experience a new country together. For a summer exchange we would prefer a place which has some outdoor space or at least close to a park or playground area. We are non-smokers and we wish to exchange with a family that is also non-smokers and pet free. We are interested in most countries, so please do not hesitate to contact us.

Where is it?

Our home is located in the southern part of Sweden, in Växjö. As you can see on the map it’s situated between three coasts and there are a lot of lakes in and around the city.

The house is located in a quiet part of Växjö, nearby one of the many lakes. It’s a 15 minute walk to the city center/train station in one direction and 10 minutes to forest walks in the other direction. The town of Växjö has got a variety of things to offer. You can take a walk or ride around one of the many lakes. On the way you can see our old and beautiful cathedral and also an old fashion castle. If you like fishing you can try that too. You can also enjoy our many restaurants, one with the awards “Wine experience of the year” and “#9 restaurant in Sweden” from the White Guide 2014. Växjö is promoted as the “Greenest city in Europe” and part of that is our many green areas, some of them with really nice playgrounds.

Växjö is a university city with approximately 87 000 inhabitants. It is located in the heart of Småland, with its deep forests and typical red wooden houses. The area is known as the “Kingdom of Crystal” with glass factories and exhibitions. You can reach them in 40 minutes by car, and close by you can also visit a moose park and come close to the “King of the Forest”. Småland is also famous for the author Astrid Lindgren, who wrote Pippi Longstocking and many other children’s books. The theme park “Astrid Lindgren’s world” is less than two hours from Växjö and you can also reach three different coasts in the same amount of time. If you want to visit Copenhagen for the day you can catch the train.
