About our home

We are a multinational family of 4 and have fullfilled ourselves a dream by buying this little hide away in the Bernese Alps . It is located on Axalp, which is above the small town of Brienz at the shores of Brienzersee (about 90 minutes by car from capital city Berne). On maps it may look rigth next to Tourist hot spots like Grindelwald, but in fact it is quite remote and there is no direct Connection (you will have to go down to the lake, hit the road back und enter the next valley to get to Grindelwald; might take about an hour by car).

The apartment consists of 2 sleeping rooms, a living room, a fully equipped kitchen, bath room with shower and a newly built small sauna.
As our kids, Ava and Maxím, are little, you will find amenities suiting just that, like highchairs, toys, foldable baby tub, foldable bed bars and a sandbox outside. You can easily stay here with up to 4 kids. For adults only a maximum of 4 is fine.

Main heating source is a log fire, but there are electric ovens for additional heat.

Outside you have a garden with a beautiful view to the Brienzer Rothorn on the opposite site of Lake Brienz. We have a fire plate and a sitting area.

Axalp has a small ski resort (1500 - 2000 m altitude, 15 km of slopes) and in summer you can go hiking, trekking, bathing/SUP in Lake Brienz, and plenty of other activies in the region.
The location is accessible with car and public transport throughout the year. We have an outside parking lot just about a 100 m below the apartment.

If you have any more questions, please ask.

Please be aware that we have a professional housekeeper preparing the apartment before and after each stay and we provide bed linen and towels (except sauna towels). We will charge 280 CHF for that. We know it’s a lot, but we want to keep the same standard for our swappers as four our other guests and ourselves. Additionaly there is a visitor's tax, that must be paid (6-16 yrs: 1 CHF/night; 17 yrs and up 3 CHF/night).

More about us

  1. We are a chilean-swiss-german family, living in Bern. Maxím was born in 2016 and Ava followed in 2018. We speak German, Spanish, English, a little Italian and a little French.

  2. Tom works at the Embassy of Luxembourg, Inga is a psychiatrist and works in outpatient addiction support. Tom was born an d raised in Osorno, North-Patagonia, Chile and Inga in Bremen, Germany.
In our free time Tom loves to paint and sometimes takes the kids to paint along and Inga is passionate about dyeing and weaving fabrics on a floor loom. We love spending time in the mountains, but also at the sea.

  3. We will treat your home as if it were ours and expect the same from fellow swappers.
