About our home

WE ARE LOOKING FOR A SWAP IN ICELAND FOR SUMMER 2021 (IF THE PANDEMIC SITUATION ALLOWS)

We are a multinational family of 4 and have fullfilled ourselves a dream by buying this little hide away in the Bernese Alps . It is located on Axalp, which is above the small town of Brienz at the shores of Brienzersee (about 90 minutes by car from capital city Berne). On maps it may look rigth next to Tourist hot spots like Grindelwald, but in fact it is quite remote and there is no direct Connection (you will have to go down to the lake, hit the road back und enter the next valley to get to Grindelwald; might take about an hour by car).
The apartment consists of 2 sleeping rooms, a living room, a fully equipped kitchen and bath room with shower. As our kids, Ava and Maxím, are little, you will find amenities suiting just that, like highchairs, toys, foldable baby tub, foldable bed bars and a sandbox outside. You can easily stay here with up to 5 (little) kids. For adults only a maximum of 4 is fine.
Main heating source is a log fire, but there are electric ovens for additional heat.
Outside you have a garden with a beautiful view to the Brienzer Rothorn on the opposite site of Lake Brienz. We have a barbecue with sitting area.
Axalp has a small ski resort (1500 - 2000 m altitude, 15 km of slopes) and in summer you can go hiking, trekking, bathing/SUP in Lake Brienz, and plenty of other activies in the region.
The location is accessible with car and public transport throughout the year. We have an outside parking lot just about a 100 m below the apartment.

If you have any more questions, please ask.

Please be aware that we have a professional housekeeper preparing the apartment before and after each stay and that we will charge 90 CHF for that. Additionaly there is a visitor's tax, that must be Paid (6-16 yrs: 1 CHF/night; 17 yrs and up 3 CHF/night).

More about us

  1. We are a chilean-swiss-german family, living in Bern. Maxím was born in 2016 and Ava followed in 2018. We speak German, Spanish (po!), English, a little Italian and a little French.

  2. Tom works at the Chilean Embassy as he is born and raised in the beautiful south of Chile. He came to his grandfathers home country at the age of 20.
Inga was born and raised in Bremen, Germany and works as a psychiatrist. She came to Switzerland in 2013 to work and found love and home.

  3. Our hide away is designed to suit the needs of families with babies and toddlers and might therefore not always be immaculate, but always filled with love and passion.
