About our home

Our house is a traditional farm-chalet (you live in the roof which lays down to the ground), surrounded by an alpine landscape of mounts up to 2200m. Is there anything more impressive than different backgrounds of huge mountains standing out the blue sky, kaleidoscope of green colors in summer and shining white in winter?
The house is composed of:
an attic room and a lovely mezzanine floor for reading, playing with children, surfing on Internet…
A bedroom, dining room/sitting room with TV, kitchen, bathroom and toilets on the first floor
a bedroom, bathroom, toilets and summer kitchen on the ground floor.
If you like the warmth of wood (in every room), a country-style decoration (farmer tools, wooden sledge, family old furniture…) and the song of a wood-burning stove that you can use in addition to the electrical radiators creating a cosy atmosphere you will not be disappointed. In winter you will appreciate to get your ski belongings dry and warm by another efficient wood-stove located in the garage (besides the washing machine).
The large kitchen will appeal to the most demanding cooks: electric and gas stove-top, self-cleaning oven, smart microwave, dishwasher, freezer and other appliances for enjoying Savoy gastronomy and famous wines…
A car is essential and we would be prepared to make our own available on an exchange basis for every day use when in your country.

More about us

  1. We are a family of 4: Gilles (50) and myself Jocelyne (45) with our two teenagers: Maëlle (14) and Odin (12).
My grandmother was born in this village where we built this secondary house in 1981. My parents still live nearby at 10 km from this village. They take (great) care of the house and of the garden which is 1700m2.
We live and work as engineers in the east part of France (south of Alsace) in a multinational company. In case you wish also to visit Alsace (300 km from the proposed house), we might invite you at home or also exchange our primary house if we are on holidays.
Our inclination is to meet people of the 5 continents and share culture. We have been foster-home several times for foreign girls. I personally travel a lot everywhere for business purpose.
Late February 2007, during the school holidays, we are looking forward to spend 2 weeks in South America, preferably Chile.
2007 summer holiday is booked in Africa, so next opportunity will be in 2008 for which we are totally open!

Where is it?

The village is located at 900m up in the Alps mountains in the Regional Natural Park of “Massif des Bauges”, it has 150 authentic inhabitants and shops/market/restaurants/leisure complex are at 5 km from the house. Annecy, Chambéry, and Aix-les-Bains are 25 km far away with their wonderful lakes enclosed by the mountains. You have the advantage of a rural setting with town life next door. The house is in a “cul-de-sac”: you cannot find somewhere more quiet in such a healthy environment!
There are 3 local downhill skiing resorts and 150 km of cross-country skiing (or snowshoes hiking), both 20mn from the house.
The trails (hiking or biking) in summer offer delightful day trips.
Of course you can practice any sport linked to torrents, lakes and mountains.
Within a radius of maximum 80 km, you will find Geneva, Lyon, Grenoble and Albertville (Winter Olympic Games) as well as Chamonix-Mont Blanc. Most of the famous French ski resorts are less than 2 hours away: you can change everyday and test all, you may even ski in summer!
You can easily visit the border countries: Switzerland and Italy by several mountain passes and by Mont Blanc tunnel. You can reach Paris by TGV train in less than 3 hours.
