About our home

The apartment is only available in 2019 during the jazz festival - 29 June - 13 July.

Our elegant home occupies the entire second floor and is huge, 150m, with high corniced ceilings and a view from every window. The terrace provides a stunning view of the lake, Chateau de Chillon and alpes whilst you eat or chill al fresco surrounded by jasmine and roses.

The main bedroom has an antique emporer bed, an ensuite bathroom with shower over the bath, and opens onto the terrace, as does the sumptuous living room with marble fireplace.

A large dining room with circular dining table with antique chairs connects to the living room through large french doors, and there is a separate well-equipped kitchen across the hallway. There are another 3 bedrooms, one with a double bed (160 cm), one with a king sized bed (180 cm) plus single bed/sofa with it's own balcony, and the last bedroom , which is also used a TV / games room, is equipped with a trundle sofa bed - the single bed underneath pulls out and stands at the same heights as the sofa, so you can chose to make this a twin room or a double room.

All the rooms are beautifully furnished with parquet flooring.

There is a small guest toilet.

Our TVs are connected to the internet with netflix and amazon prime services, plus international terrestrial channels proviided through our fibre optic service - all the BBC and ITV channels from the UK for example.

For music lovers we have a piano, with it's own view towards the sunset along the lake towards Geneva and the Jura, and you can easily connect to your device to our music system via our high quality bluetooth DAC.

The jazz festival is within easy walking distance, or a free bus, during the first 2 weeks of July, during which we are usually away.

We are situated on the edge of the old town, within walking distance to the lake (pop down for a swim, paddle board or pedalo), 5 mins walk to the train up to Les Rochers de Naye (see the marmots, go for a fondue, hike or mountain bike), and 10 minutes walk from the town centre and main train station. We are surrounded by top restaurants and easy to reach shopping.

The motorway is 5 mins drive away from where you can drive to the miriad mountain resorts that surround us: Portes de soleils (2o mins), Leysin (30 mns), Villars (40 mins), Verbier (40 mins), Chamonix (1 hr), Zermatt (train in 1:30hrs).

Where the Rhone enters the lake there is a wildlife reserve, accessible within 40 mins via a lovely bike ride along the lake past the Chateau de Chillon. We have a couple of bikes we can loan out.

The neighbourhood is quiet and safe with a kids play park over the road featuring a basket ball court, water fountains, climbing frames, swings and picnic areas. There is a water fun park in Villeneuve, 20 mins away.

For the oenologically inclined, we are also surrounded by vineyards with many offering 'caves ouvertes' or guided tours from May to September. Sampling local produce is a must as the fruit juices, cheeses and cured meats are delicious.

It may be possible to loan the car (some assurances regards excess payment etc would be needed) which comes with it's own private car parking place over the road.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

We are situated in a quiet leafy neighbourhood of villas and parks. The old town is just above and behind the house, straddling a gorge and waterfall where you can find the locally acclaimed restaurant du pont perched on the side of the gorge, and a local epicerie, bakers and a coffee shop. An from the terrace you have a view of our beautiful St Vincent church framed by the mountain back drop.

The appartment faces the mountains above the Rhone and Evian, overlooking the lake. The view is absolutely stunning.

The walk to the lake is a quick 3 mins where you can dive in from one of the pontoons, or slip into the water more gracefully if you chose. the water is wonderfully warm in the summer. There is a sailing school 4 misn from the house from where you can rent pedalos, canoes, paddleboards and motor boats.

We are 10 mins walk from the town center which during the first 2 weeks of July hosts the jazz festival (https://www.montreuxjazzfestival.com/en#top), a shopping centre and the local supermarkets.

The mountains surround us, and within 5 mins walk up the hill from the old town you can take the train to Rochers de Naye which offers skiing in the winter and every mountain sport you can think of in the summer. Other resports within easy access by train from the main station are Crans Montana, Leysin, Verbier, Villars, Les Diablerets and Zermat. Getting to these resorts by car is more convenient and quicker of course (in under 40 mins for all except Les Diabelerets and Zermat), plus you can easily reach the Portes de Soleil in 20 mins.

Lausanne is 30 mins away by train or motorway, and there is a direct rain line to Geneva airport.
