About our home

(Iti is very difficult to see the arrow to scroll through the pictures of our home. Look carefully near the bottom of the fourth window pane on the right. There are 22 photos)

Location, location, location. After living 8 kilometers outside of town, we decided the driving was too time consuming because of the heavy traffic, thus we moved into the center of Chiang Mai city on Nimmanhaemin Road. Our house is two stories with an open floor plan. First floor has the living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room. The second floor has three bedrooms and a bathroom. The master bedroom has a king bed and the other two bedrooms have twin beds. Our favorite area is the front patio/garden table where we spend lots of our time in the morning with coffee and in the evening with a glass of wine.

More about us

  1. Alan and I (Cinda) are retired Americans who relocated to Chiang Mai, Thailand, so that we could do lots of traveling and enjoy the year-round warm weather. Alan was an investment broker and I was a university professor. We have lived in Chiang Mai for more than fourteen years and have enjoyed every day here. We are both very active with tennis, golf, running, biking, and playing bridge at our local bridge club . We have three grown children two living in the United States and one living in Melbourne, Australia.

We love to travel and explore new places; we also like to share what we know about Thailand with others.

Neighbourhood

We have recently moved to the center of Chiang Mai city (Nimmanhaemin Road) because it is so convenient and in the midst of everything. We can walk to many restaurants, grocery stores, small local shops, a large shopping center, banks, massage shops, and spas. If needed, there is public transportation readily available 100 meters outside our door. We are surrounded by lots of activity, but the house set back from Nimmanhaeman Road and therefore is very quiet. We can easily escape the hustle and bustle when we want to sit idly in our patio/garden.

Sightseeing options in Chiang Mai: Wat Doi Suthep, Chiang Mai Zoo and Aquarium, Night Safari, Royal Flora Ratchphruek gardens, Sunday Night Walking Street Market, Night Bazaar, Mae Ping, River Cruise, Wat Phra Singh, Huay Teung Thao Reservoir, Mae Sa Valley & Samoeng sightseeing loop, Tiger Kingdom (pet a tiger), Elephant Camp (ride an elephant) or Elephant Training Center Chiang Dao (care for the elephants), bamboo rafting, visit Queen Sirkit Botanical Gardens, take a Thai cooking class, shop for Celadon Ceramics, hike into a Hilltribe Village, participate in a Vipassana Meditation Retreat, or pamper yourself with a very affordable spa excursions, manicures, or pedicures.
