About our home

Our flat is ideally situated on the ring that surrounds the village. You can access the village center with a 10 min. walk and yet stay away from the crowds that gathers especially during summer months. The two storey house is made from local stone. The 60 cm thick outer walls provide a natural climate control, air condition is hardly ever needed. We have a eat-in kitchen in the main living area that opens up to a large terrace from where you get a a nice view of the village and of the windmills that characterize the village. Living room is small but comfortable, equipped with a TV and hi-fi. You have an oven in the kitchen and a barbeque in the garden. Besides the king size bed in the master bedroom, there is a single bed in the second bedroom with a French balcony. We can offer a travel cot in case of need. It is a small but comfortable flat with easy maintanence. Most of the time is spent outdoors, on beautiful beaches or sporting. This is our second home and therefore we are flexible for non-simultaneous exchanges. You will find our flat especially interesting if you are looking for somewhere sunny and warm and even more so, if you are interested in windsurfing and sailing.

More about us

  1. We are an early retired couple (both worked in the field of international trade) with a 18 months old daughter. We are for the time being enjoying to watch her grow and spending time on our hobbies, like windsurfing, sailing, tennis, skiing and dancing tango. We both like to travel a lot and now that we are not working, and our daughter is not yet at school, we would like to profit from this period for longer stays around the world. We also enjoy winter sports so we would also be interested in making an exchange with a condo in a ski resort. We have once experienced a home exchange and very much enjoyed this novel way of traveling and cultural exchange. The good news is, if you come between May-September, it is very likely we will be around (we live in the first floor of the same house) to show your around our beloved village. Our favorite months in Alaçatı is May-June and September-October as July and August gets too hot and too crowded. The weather is still very pleasant in October. By the way, we will have bicycles and and a 5 m. sail centerboat (topper Sports 16) for your use I you are interested.

Where is it?

Alacati, a district of Cesmeme, is only 70 km away from Izmir, 90 km from Izmir international airport. With its well protected stone houses with an average age of hundred years, Alaçatı has become a distinguished touristic resort in the past 10s years. It has at the same time been rated as one of the top 3 windsurf centers in the world. Here, you can find the cleanest sea in the Aegean region with most beautiful beaches around consisting of white sands of quartz. A mixture of Turkish and Greek architectural examples of the past could still be seen in the vicinity mostly as a result of conservatism of the residents keeping the historical texture in tact. Such ancient sites as Ephesus and House of the Virgin Mary in Selçuk is within easy reach from Izmir. In addition to its natural and historical beauties and renewed face, the Port Alaçatı and the marina projects are a significant part of the touristic activity of the region. You can find finest examples of local art and also enjoy the delicious food from the Aegean (mostly Crete cuisine) and the Balkan regions such as stuffed courgettes, all kinds of herbs cooked with olive oil.
