About our home

Our house is a 4 storey townhouse situated in Icmeler in Turkey which we had renovated last year and is our second home. It is in a lovely place with views from the roof top master bedroom across the town, the mountains and all importantly, the sea. You can see all across the bay to Marmaris where the catamaran will take you to Rhodes for the day or longer. The house has 2 double bedrooms both with en-suite shower rooms and toilet, a double room and a room with bunk beds, both of which share a shower room and toilet. There are 3 settees in the house as well, which can sleep 6, but 3 in comfort. We don't have a pool, but we use the apartment block pool directly opposite which is OK. There is a small garden to the front and a patioed back garden with 2 sunbeds and a number of reclining chairs.

More about us

  1. We are non-smokers in our late 40s/early 50s with 2 teenage children. We live in Essex England and want to experience different countries around the world. We have relatives in New Zealand, so this would be a very nice swap for us. Now that we have a second home, we're hoping that there are people who want to experience the Turkish friendly culture in exchange for us experiencing theirs.

Where is it?

Icmeler is a holiday resort and the facilities are open from April to the end of October. The sun is at its best from May to October, but you can go there from March to November and still find sunshine. Out of season it can be wet and cold and this period isn't recommended if you want a tan. It's Ok as a base during this time if you want to explore Turkey, but you will need a car. The ancient monument of Ephesus, the house of the Virgin Mary and Pammukalle are amongst the many wonders that Turkey offers and all within a few hours drive of our home. During the holiday season, transfers from Dalaman airport can be arranged locally or booked through the internet. There are a large number of restaurants and bars, catering for every type of food you want and the people are very friendly. A speciality of Turkey is leather goods and 14 carat jewellery and you won't be disppointed if you want to purchase. If you've never been here before, now is your chance to experience what is a lovely location and culture.
