“The communication with Valerie was very good from the start and she was very helpful with information. We arrived in the hottest period and the air-conditioners saves our lives. The view from the house is absolutely fantastic. Kas is a small but very touristic town with a lot of good restaurants. We went for a day sailing trip to Kekova which was great. Thanks Valerie!”

About our home
The house is in a beautiful area of Turkey on the Turquoise Coast, The area is in fact where Turkish people from Istanbul and Ankara come for their holiday to enjoy the peace and scenery of this delightful coastline.
The south-facing house usually has a slight breeze to offset the heat of the sun and there are superb sea and mountain views.
The house is situated in the Turkish village of Gokseki, which is 5k from the town of Kas, and 14k from the town of Kalkan. This is not a tourist village so it is very peaceful. There are no restaurants or bars, but you will feel part of the Turkish community, and the local people are very friendly. There are two small shops in the village, and of course the mosque. The bus service to and from Kas are every 30 minutes during the summer months, and hourly in the Spring, Autumn and Winter. The journey takes about 10 minutes( A one hour downhill walk to Kas) The nearest beach is a 30 minute walk or 5 minutes by car or bus. At the beach there is a cafe, and the usual sunbeds/umbrellas are also available.

Neighbourhood
Kas,(pronounced cash)is a cosmopolitan town with a population of 7200. There are several bathing platforms, and beaches, numerous shops, restaurants, bars, and pleasant walks around the harbour. There is an ancient Amphitheatre, also a large local market every Friday.
There is also a new yachting marina, that was completed in June 2011
Kas is famous throughout Turkey for its Dive Centres, and Paragliding, and excursions. With a daily bus service to Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir. Every year walking groups arrive in Kas to walk part of the Lycian Way. You can also get a boat to the Greek island of Meis, which takes approx 30 minutes.
Some of our exchangers have travelled to us from the Greek Island of Rhodes, where they have started their holiday with ferry trip with Star Ferries to the Greek Island of Meis (or as the Greeks call it Kastellorizo) It is then a 30 minute boat trip into Kas which is 4 klms from our house.
You can also fly from Rhodes to Meis (40 Mins)
Turkey is steeped in history, and many historical sites are well worth a visit, Ephesus, Aphrodisias, and Pumakkale to name a few are within 5 hrs by road. The town of Kalkan to the west is a quaint busy harbour town, which is an extremely popular holiday resort, with a beach, many shops, bars and restaurants. It also offers a range of opportunities for excursions and boat trips. There are frequent buses from Kas, and the beautiful coast road journey takes about 30 minutes.
The beautiful sandy beach, and the ancient site of Patara is 1 hour by local bus.
Friends both Turkish and English, will be available should you need any assistance or advice.
If you visit the flickr website and search Kas there are many photos of this beautiful area.
