About our home

We are a family of five with three children aged, 25, 23 and 15. We live in Thames Ditton in Surrey, which is a 30-minute train journey into central London. Our home has three double bedrooms, two bathrooms with wcs, a kitchen/dining room, which is open plan, a front room/office and a media room in the garden with a flatscreen TV. We have a Sonos music system that receives Spotify throughout the house. Our home is clean, bright and airy. We have a 50ft garden with garden table and chairs and a BBQ. Our home is non-smoking.

More about us

  1. My name is Mandy, I work as a journalist on a TV magazine, my husband Paul works in football stadium security. We have 3 children, George, 23, who has left university and is now working in pharmaceutical marketing, our daughter Polly, 21, is studying Philosophy at Bristol University, and our youngest is Freddie, age 13, who loves football and playing guitar!

Now the children are getting older, I thought it would be a lovely idea to do a house exchange with another family who are like-minded and looking for cost-effective, adventurous travel.

Where is it?

Thames Ditton is a quaint old English village in Surrey, it has many cafés, a convenience store, an Indian and an Italian restaurant, a post office, gift shop, a sports shop and a hairdressing salon. We have several local pubs, one of which dates back to the 1500s. King Henry VIII was said to have frequented it and even built a secret passage from his Hampton Court Palace direct to the Swan pub! The palace is 1 mile from our house and well worth a visit. We are close to the river Thames, where you can take boat rides into Kingston and Richmond towns and further up to London. We have bicycles that you can use to cycle along the river in either direction - towards London or deeper into Surrey.

We are a 5-7 minute walk to Thames Ditton mainline station. I commute into London daily for my work and it is quick and easy, with trains approx every 25-30 minutes to London Waterloo. From there you can get to all the London attractions via the Underground rail network.

Just up the road by Hampton Court bridge there is a plethora of bars, cafés and restaurants, boutiques and gift shops as well as traditional English pubs. It's a 10-15 minute walk from the house.
