“Our family of three had an extremely enjoyable long weekend in Moffat during May 2012. Our absent hosts did all they could to make us feel welcome and at home. The house is in a wonderful spot, with views over hills and fields but within walking distance of the eateries and pubs of the delightful town of Moffat. The Victorian house was beautifully decorated and full of charm and we had an absolutely wonderful time. This was our first swap and we can't wait for our next. Thanks for breaking us in Chris and Helen! We hope you enjoyed the swap just as much!”

There are four large bedrooms, a study with free wifi, playroom/dining room, sitting room (with double sofa bed), living room, and family kitchen-dining room. There is a separate laundry room, two bathrooms and front and rear gardens, with BBQ area. Car exchange is also possible and desired. If you need any help finding your way around, our parents live nearby and we have local doctors as friends in an emergency. All rooms are child-friendly, and we have plenty of toys and family games/Wii in case of a rainy day. We love to share our home with our guests and will respect your home in the same way. “Chris and Helen's home is a lovely, old stately house with plenty of space, beautiful high ceilings and very well laid out. The town of Moffat is utterly charming, the people are very friendly and the food is amazing. Moffat is also a wonderful base from which to tour Southernand central Scotland. I am sure that if you get the opportunity to exchange with Chris and Helen, you won't be disappointed either in the house or the area. We had a great holiday there.”
“We have spent 12 beautiful days in Moffat during our summer holiday. The house was just wonderful (over 100 years old and looked like from some Jane Austen`s novel :D )providing comfort for 7-8 people with breathtaking scene. In the surroundings you can find loads of historic sight-seeings and cities such as Glasgow,Edinburgh or Carlisle (good shopping :D ). We were totally satisfied with the exchange with Mr. Chris and his nice family a can recommend it for everyone, who wants to enjoy Scotland and its beauties.”

Neighbourhood
Situated on the edge of the beautiful little town of Moffat (http://www.visitmoffat.co.uk), we are spoiled with local colour and flavours. River walks, hill walks, cycling, cosy pubs and restaurants are all on the doorstep. Moffat is surrounded by hills, yet is only one hour from the dynamic and historic cities of Edinburgh (home of Harry Potter) and Glasgow. The quaint market towns of Kelso, Hexham and Selkirk are also within 1 hour, and the landmark Hadrian's Wall even closer. We are also only 1 hour from the beautiful Lake District, home of Beatrix Potter. The Moffat community harks back to the good old days of a bygone era - local businesses supported by local people, with excellent market days, a Summer Festival of Walking, Gala week, local fishing, boating lake, several play parks, tennis courts, a challenging local golf course and welcoming pubs serving dishes prepared with local Buccleuch lamb and salmon. The community is very friendly and welcoming and is well-used to visitors. Nearby Broughton brewery produces its own real ales for those that like to sample local produce in a glass ! Sandy, child friendly beaches are 45 mins drive away, along with sailing and windsurfing at Kippford. This is a serene peaceful spot, with wonderful views and walks. The perfect base for exploring some of the most fantastic cities and countryside the UK has to offer. We love it !
