Our home is from the Tudor period with later extensions at either side. It has many original features such as big oak beams and 3 open fireplaces. You can see original carvings of Tudor roses & the carpenter's marks placed there when the main house was built in around 1510 - 1520. The front of the house has an upper part which is a jetty (overhang) covered with weathered Sussex red tiles. The lower part is beamed. The roof is also tiled with Sussex tiles and has a chimney which serves the fireplaces. Large garden, yew hedges containing flower beds.
I am a retired airline pilot. My wife and I would like to visit Western Australia (Perth or reasonably near Perth) in late December/January 2013. Our daughter & son-in-law live with their children in Brisbane having moved several years ago from Melbourne, where we had a v successful house exchange through HomeforExchange.com
This time we would like to holiday with them in WA for about three weeks.
We are looking for a large apartment or a house (to accomodate 4 adults & 3 small children) near a beach, or with the use of a swimming pool.
We could offer our home not only during January, which of course is the English winter but alternatively during the English summer.
It could also be available for Christmas and/or New Year.
Our home sits in the middle of a small friendly village with an old church & pub/restaurant in the heart of the English countryside. Nearby is the historic town of Battle (1066 etc.,) & from the bottom of our garden you can see Bodiam Castle (Norman period) across the fields. There are many gardens attached to historic houses such as Sissinghurst & Great Dixter within easy reach. The village is 20 mins from the nearest train station where there are direct rail connections to London (1hr 20min). Rye and Hastings are about 1/2 hr by car & Brighton is 1hr 30.
