About our home

This gorgeous detached barn conversion with a roof terrace has one of the best panoramic views in the Eden Valley. It's near the beautiful Lake District which is a UNESCO National Park, and was voted Lonely Planet's 36th best place in the world to visit.

The barn sits in a small hamlet called Froddle Crook near the village of Armathwaite.

For 2019 we'd love to swap with a European seaside villa with a pool which sleeps six or more.

Other swaps are also of interest so do tempt us!

The village has two great pubs and a lovely village store, and there are river walks from the barn and the village. Do check out our amazing reviews!

Best of all it's on the edge of one of the world's most beautiful national parks - The Lake District. Regarded as the most beautiful part of Britain, the Lake District offers lakes, mountains, streams and waterfalls together with with walking, climbing, cycling, kayaking, boat trips, activity days and some of the finest hotels and spas in Britain.

The Eden Valley is also famous for its great cycling routes with the Coast to Coast route passing through this beautiful area. Also, the Scottish border dips right down at this western side of England so the Scottish border is only twenty miles away. (For anyone flying from the south or abroad- we're just over an hour's drive from Newcastle Airport.)

Although this barn isn't suitable for pets, it sleeps six in a king and two doubles. There's also a single mattress for added flexibility.

I've gone a bit mad with photos but I wanted to show you how lovely it is round here.

Charles Darwin loved The Lake District and described it as 'magnificent'. William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and Arthur Ransome are just some of the writers moved to describe the beauty of this area.

More recently Melvin Bragg, Chris Bonnington and Sting all have homes here and no wonder as Cumbria has some of the best hotels and restaurants in Britain. L'Enclume (South Cumbria) won UK best restaurant 2014 and The Samling (near Windermere) won best boutique hotel in the world.

If gastro pubs are more your style then check out Trip Advisor for some gorgeous dining pubs throughout the whole county.

If all that tires you out then don't worry. The outside of this lovely home has a huge garden to lounge in with a fabulous decking area, a terraced area just off the dining kitchen, and a large roof terrace leading from the main bedroom which overlooks the tremendous views.

Inside, if your legs ache after a hard day's walking or your brain aches after a hard day's sightseeing - just relax in the large kitchen, curl up in the living room with its log burning stove, or read your book in the garden room.

One bedroom is king size, and two are doubles - all with outstanding views. There is also a utility room with Miele washer and dryer and additional toilet, as well as the main bathroom with overbath shower.

Large dining kitchen with marble work tops, dishwasher and the usual built in appliances including ipod dock. Glass doors to the gardens.

We've looked after our friends' townhouse in York on many occasions and would treat your home with care and respect. We like the idea of exchanging from two to fourteen days. If you have any questions - don't hesitate to ask.
