About our home

Our Grade II listed home is located in the conservation area of Hertfordshire's village of the year 2010. The house faces onto a natural spring and is situated in the heart of the village, whilst having a rural and peaceful feel. The village is an extremely friendly place to live and visit and has all services (excellent butcher/ deli, baker, grocer and purveyor of fine foods, a hairdresser and beauty therapy clinic, a village store, take away Indian store and 3 lovely pubs, a gallery, doctors surgery, pharmacy, dentist, post office, gift store, museum and jeweller. Quite unusual for a village of this size). Half of our home is a two story, 300 year old thatched cottage, with thick, white clunch walls, the other half a modern extension built in a barn style, to complement the original features of the house. Our home is furnished in a cosy and welcoming way, with a mixture of open plan space and traditional English cottage rooms. The house has been renovated in a manner so as to enhance its style, whilst providing modern facilities and charm. One bathroom offers a traditional freestanding, roll top bath on brass feet in sweet, cottage style decor. The other bathroom is also decorated in a modern cottage style and offers a shower. Central heating means that this house is toasty in winter and so can be enjoyed comfortably all year round. The garden is large with a mixture of open play space (enjoy a game of croquet), area for relaxing, or space for kids to jump on the trampoline. Around the corner is the recreational ground, an open area with play equipment. Out the front, the springs is a shallow stream both children and adults alike enjoy to spend time in and explore. The train station is approx 1 mile from the house providing quick and easy access to Cambridge and London. Please note that the 2 kids bedrooms (each containing bunk beds) are on the second floor which has a steep staircase, not suitable for toddlers or people with mobility issues. The master bedroom is located on the ground floor below the children's bedrooms allowing close proximity for parents. The shower room and wc is located just next to the master bedroom and at the base of the steps for the children. There are single steps in different areas within the house. A family car can be included as a possible exchange.
