About our home

We have lived here since 2012 and the house is in a wonderful area on the outskirts of a very friendly village, Oving. We are situated on a lane which goes nowhere except to farmers' fields - the traffic is thus mostly tractors. The house is easy to live in with an Aga cooker and very efficient central heating system. The bedrooms are all upstairs and the stairs are wide and easy. There is a large garden but this will not need any attention in the winter months. We have full Sky TV with all sport and film options.

More about us

  1. We are Tricia and Ralph Godfrey and we are recently retired. We are very active and enjoy tennis, walking, riding, swimming and travelling.
We lived in Australia for several years in the late 70s and early 80s and we have many friends and relations both there and in New Zealand. We then spent 25 years in France where I was working in the port of Marseille. We have kept a flat in Marseille and we return to it often. We have 2 boys 33 and 31 who are both working in different parts of the world and so we travel regularly to see them. The flat in Marseille could also be available for non simultaneous exchange.

Where is it?

The village of Oving, (pop 1,000) which is 7 minutes walk from the house, is very friendly and has an active 13th century Church and a classic thatched pub which is full of character and serves excellent food. There is no shop in Oving but there is one in Tangmere, the next door village, which is 10 minutes by car and 8 or 15 minutes by bike or on foot via a tarmac footpath across the fields.
Goodwood is close by with all its very sophisticated attractions and the market town of Chichester with its magnificent Cathedral, many art galleries and marvellous restaurants is 10 minutes drive.
Access to London is easy with a direct train link from Chichester or Barnham (3 miles) - trains run every half an hour.
