About our home

We offer a beautifully presented period house in an excellent position on the edges of the World Heritage city of Bath. The Romans made Bath a huge spa town, and the ruins are a must-see! Bath recently rebuilt its renown as a health spa centre. The architecture built in the Georgian period is what makes Bath so incredibly elegant. Taking a hot-air Balloon flight is just one of many ways to explore this.
Our home is light and airy with a dining room conservatory with French doors leading out into the south facing, spacious garden. We enjoy our sitting room with its comfortable sofas and decorative fireplace and its open plan layout leading to our light filled kitchen and conservatory. There is one double bedroom on the ground floor (with a sofa-bed) with a lovely decorative Victorian tiled fireplace and views. Upstairs boasts two double bedrooms (each with double beds), one with panoramic country views and the other overlooking the garden. We have a lovely spacious bathroom with bath and shower and WC.

Our well established garden has a lovely patio for dining with a teak dining table, parasol, chairs and bench and a summer house with two comfortable armchairs and with stunning views of the surrounding valleys.

More about us

  1. We are Becca, and Steve; we have one teenage daughter Mia and an adult daughter Beth who is in her first year at university. We are both professionals, Becca, 49, is a writer and academic and Steve,52, is a manager in Social Care/Social Worker. We all adore living in Bath because of its proximity to countryside hiking and places of Outstanding Beauty and the city's eclectic and plentiful eateries, its big range of fashion outlets and small local shops and vibrant nightlife. We regularly visit London by train or by car which is easy on the motorway.
We are all extensive travellers and lived in the USA for ten years.
We are looking for a holiday in the sun and would love to stay somewhere in Europe with a strong preference for being near the sea or a lake.

Where is it?

We are within a fiffteen minute walk from the stunning city of Bath and only a five minute walk to the surrounding Somerset countryside. We have lovely and helpful neighbours - there is a family with two little girls living a couple of houses away: they loved playing with the children from our last home exchange - and our neighbourhood is friendly and peaceful and very quiet! There is a regular bus service into Bath within a minute's walk from the house.
Bath boasts amazing architecture, big parks and play areas, a world famous Spa and ancient Roman baths: it is an easy city to walk around and is filled with excellent fashion outlets, fine dining, restaurants and pubs.
You can hire bicycles or take a barge along the local canal ways. There are theatre and arts&crafts workshops running all summer long for children all ages. Bath is also the birthplace and inspiration for Jane Austen, with many references made to places here in her writing.
Stonehenge, Wells Cathedral, the City of Bristol and Cheddar Gorge for climbing and its famous cheddar cheese are a short drive away and there is a good train service from Bath.
London, our vibrant capital, is only eighty minutes away by train.
Wales and the Brecon Becons for hiking are worth an easy day trip from our house.
You can also go hot air ballooning over the city sights and out over the breathtaking Somerset and Wiltshire countryside.
