Our lovely home was completely renovated in 2016. It is a beautiful and relaxed base for family life while enjoying the wealth of wonderful things London has to offer - all at just a stone`s throw away. The house has 4 bedrooms (2 x with king size double beds, 2 x children`s rooms (each with a European size single bed), 2 bathrooms, a spacious open-plan family kitchen / lounge area, with French doors leading out into our garden. The garden comes kitted with a children`s trampoline and a funky-lit area to sit and eat in. We have a lovely, separate adult lounge room (smart TV / Netflix etc) - great for movies.
The area we live in is special. It`s a quiet, residential area minutes from trendy Brixton (15 mins by bus; 25 mins walk). It is also an exceptionally friendly community for London - each year we jointly host what has become a famous street party for the area. Brixton is Zone 2 - that is a 10 minute direct tube ride to the heart of London (Oxford Circus, Trafalgar Square etc).
We would be interested in 1-2 week house swaps during school holidays, or potentially long weekend house swaps.
Please note we have a cat. She is friendly and keeps herself to herself. She has an automatic feeder and cat flap so does not need attention apart from some fresh water occasionally. She generally stays out of the bedrooms. However if you have any minor allergies, don't hesitate to let us know and we can be extra careful to keep her out of bedrooms for weeks in advance - if that's useful. Because of our cat (she is very beautiful!) we can't accept other pets - sorry! For points swap we may ask for a contribution towards the cleaning fee.
About the location
Brixton has become very cool in recent years. We have Brixton Village, which is now home to the most vibrant restaurant scene in London, plus the nightlife, shopping, a fantastic leisure centre and the independent Ritzy cinema - all well-known and celebrated by Londoners.
Our house is also less than a 5-minute stroll to Brockwell Park - considered one of London`s hippest open spaces, which has a state of the art playground, paddling pool, BMX track, walled garden, tennis courts, popular cafe, outdoor lido, spa and gym and all kinds of community events over the summer. A 10-minute walk across the park also brings you to the many independent pubs, cafes and boutiques of Herne Hill - which has a street market every Sunday which attracts people from across London.

The home is wonderful - comfortable beds, clean baths, and a great kitchen/dining area with garden to enjoy. “Jo And Jay, thank you for a great swap. We had a wonderful time staying in your home, which was so comfortable, warm and catered for our every need. The bedrooms beautifully restful after busy days up in town visiting galleries, going to shows and travelling around on the buses. The number 2 bus was particularly useful getting you into the centre of town just from the bottom of your road! We loved having our meals in the open plan and very smart kitchen. It was lovely to chat with you before the swap, and then our paths crossed at your place, making it a truly personal experience. Would recommend this lovely house and family for a great swap.”
“We stayed at Jo and Jay’s house for 9 days in summer, and had an absolutely fantastic time. They were generous and thoughtful hosts and the house is even more lovely than the photos. It is light and spacious, stylishly decorated and had everything we could have wanted. Jo and Jay obviously enjoy cooking so there was everything we needed in the kitchen and loads of ingredients to experiment with. We also found the location to be perfect. Very easy to jump onto the bus or tube straight into the centre of London, and to other transport hubs to connect you to other parts of the UK. The sun was shining so we got to spend time in wonderful Brockwell Park - a large, beautiful park just a few minutes walk down the road from the house, and even managed to get to the Lambeth Country Show there - a huge popular London festival, which was great fun. ”

Jay is an entrepreneur with 2 photographic agencies, Jo is a civil servant.
