About our home

Our home dates back to around 1890, when it was first used in the village as a chapel. Since then it has had a number of uses until we converted it to our home around 18 years ago. We have maintained many of its original features but have also now given it a contemporary feel. It has a large open plan modern kitchen and dining room , a large modern and light sitting room and separate office. It also has 4 bedrooms (all with double beds and one ensuite) Our house has all mod-cons. Outside we have a south facing garden with sunny patio and enclosed garden. We also have a large private parking area at the rear of our property. We would also be happy to include our automatic Mercedes in the exchange.

We think our village of Beckington is perfect. It is quiet but not too quiet. We have 2 pubs, a fabulous deli providing excellent wine, gifts and food (to eat in & out), 2 community tennis courts, a well equiped park and playing field and within a 5 minute walk you have a shop which can provide you with essentials both day & night. We are in the heart of the village but off the main road which means it is peaceful. It is in a rural location and surrounded by wonderful countryside which means we have endless great walks on our doorstep plus 2 adult & 2 kids bikes available in shed! However we are less than 9 miles away from the historic city of Bath, famous for its architecture and Roman Baths.. check out http://www.visitbath.co.uk and http://www.thermaebathspa.com. As well as that we are near to many other attractions such as Stonehenge, Glastonbury Tor, Wookey Hole, Wells Cathedral, Longleat, the Cotswolds and many National Trust properties to name but a few. The south coast is less than an hour and a half drive away. London is only a journey of hour and half by train and we have a station in Frome only 8 minutes drive away. Frome is our nearest town (only 5 mins away) which holds a weekly market and has many individual shops and several galleries, it also boast its own independant cinema. We really are spoilt for choice in this area for things to do. See http://www.beckington.org.uk.

More about us

  1. We are a family of 4 with 2 children at university that may travel with us or may not! We are pet lovers and have a cat and a dog (but don't worry - you won't need to look after them if you exchange with us... unless you want to!)

  2. Bruce is an antique restorer and Rachael works for a child welfare Charity.

  3. We love to explore and although don't mind visiting rural areas, we rather not go somewhere too remote as we like eating out and browsing museums and shops.
