“We spent a perfect, idyllic week in the Dorset countryside and were blessed with lovely warm sunshine all week. The pool, jacuzzi, tennis court, BBQ and lounging areas were perfect to spend some quality time with family, and the house is located within close proximity to some very pretty villages with amenities, as well as under an hour away from the beautiful Jurassic Coastline. Communication with Vicky was prompt and helpful throughout - would highly recommend this swap to anyone, and would love to come back one day!”

About our home
We are in a hamlet of 8 houses, set in 16 acres of natural land, between two villages with a farm shop, two village shops and a choice of pubs. There are more pubs and restaurants within driving distance. We have a tennis court, swimming pool and outdoor hot tub. There is a newly converted barn opposite the house. (not quite finished).
The saltwater pool is air source heated and easily reaches 30 degrees when the weather is good. The tennis court has beautiful views from it and it set in a large garden.
We can sleep 10 but please note that 2 people would be on a sofa bed in the snug with a loo next door.
Beaches are less than an hour away, Longleat is half an hour, Shaftesbury, our very pretty town, is 10 minutes away, with a farmers market every week.
With ground source heating, the house is warm and cosy, and cool in the summer as the thatch and thick stone walls keep it that way. There is a huge fire place on wintery evenings and no shortage of logs which are just outside the front door and come from the field. Tables, chairs, an out door sofa a chiminea, and a gas barbeque outside provide for dining al fresco. The outhouse is currently being converted into a games room with a pingpong table or pool table (undecided!) and tv
A cleaning fee of £50 has become a necessity at the end of visits (we do airbnb also). Please do get in touch and hopefully we can created happy holidays!

“We had a fantastic long weekend in Vicky's beautiful thatched cottage. It is spacious and extremely comfortable. The hot tub was wonderful!! We had many hugely relaxing hours in warm weather enjoying the lovely patio with stunning views of the garden and surrounding countryside. The bird song was amazing. It's a super pet friendly place as well and the golden retriever that accompanied us was in dog heaven. Thanks so much! ”
“Vicky was very helpful and great to deal with and the property is a beautiful old cottage within wonderful English countryside yet not far from the picturesque towns of Shaftesbury and Blandford Forum. Unfortunately the weather while we were there, over New Year, was grey and miserable but the lovely open fire in the lounge was great to come home to and warmed our hearts as well as our bodies! I would love to come back but this time in the summer to take full advantage of the house, the swimming pool, the tennis court and the local walks.”
“We had the most fantastic week and instantly felt relaxed and at home all thanks to our thoughtful and generous hosts. The house is accompanied by a lovely plot of land with tennis court and a long paddock and lovely babbling brook at the bottom, which is perfect for our dog, he had the best time, My daughter was smitten by the horses and one of the daughters lovely friends gave her a ride on one which was so kind and made her week. The pool weather wasn’t favourable for us, but it was March, however the hot tub made up for it. Vicky and her husband had gone to a lot of effort to make sure it was a comfortable stay for us for which we will be eternally grateful”
“Vicky was perfect in all ways.”

In a quiet Dorset hamlet set in 16 acres with a small river at the bottom of the large field. There is great space to relax. We are a good walk from a farm shop with a vegetarian cafe serving delicious food, and a small gallery. The nearest village is Child Okeford which is 2 miles away and has a village shop. Shaftesbury is 7 miles away and has a supermarket and various cafes and shops to visit. Bath is one hour away, a stunning City, Salisbury 45 minutes away and Stonehenge is about 40 minutes. The beach is an hour away. We love the peace of the area and the fun we have on our doorstep with the pool and tennis court.
