About our home

Our house is a large four bedroom terraced Edwardian house on a quiet residential road in the heart of the vibrant city of Brighton.

It has a modern kitchen/dining room with patio doors leading into a small but perfectly formed garden that attracts the sun all through the day. The lounge provides a large comfortable living space with plenty of books and music to browse through during your stay.

Upstairs are two toilets and a good sized modern bathroom with separate shower. There is a large master bedroom with double bed and a second bedroom overlooking the garden which also has a double bed. The third bedroom is being used as a study and has a computer linked up to high speed broadband ready for use. On the fourth floor is a large childrens bedroom with two single beds.

We have bicycles for two adults and two children as well as scooters and rollerblades.

More about us

  1. My husband Simon and myself (Lisa) have lived in Brighton for over 10 years and now have two young daughters and a cat called Oscar. We have always enjoyed travelling and have collected many furnishings from Asia and Africa which are used to decorate our home. My husband, a photographer and building surveyor, has a creative eye and a passion for music while I enjoy mountain biking and yoga.

We have not done a home exchange before but are keen to experience staying as a resident in another country and allowing someone else to enjoy Brighton from our home. We would prefer to arrange an exchange in advance so that we can get to know our fellow exchangers by email and find out how we can best facilitate their stay in the UK.

Where is it?

Brighton is a vibrant colourful and creative coastal city surrounded by areas of outstanding natural beauty including the South Downs National Park that is only a ten-minute drive away. Yet it is also only a 50-minute train journey to the centre of London and with regular trains running until late in the evening it makes an easy day trip.

It is a city with plenty to do and hosts festivals celebrating arts, comedy or music throughout the year. The quaint and quirky Lanes offer a unique shopping experience and there are an abundance of restaurants and bars of all cuisines to suit all budgets. The historic Brighton Pavillion sits proudly in the centre of the city and is a short distance from the sea front.

You can walk, cycle or rollerskate all the way along the sea front from Brighton Marina to Shoreham port (approx 10 miles). There are many parks in the city and excellent transport by bus and train.

Other attractions in the area include Arundel Castle, the stunning chalky white cliffs at Seven Sisters, Lewes Castle, Ashdown Forrest and the artistic cottage of Charlton House.
