“Merci à Joanna et sa famille de nous avoir guidé pour ce premier échange. La maison de Joanna est charmante et accueillante. D'un point de vue pratique, tout y est, on prend vite ses marques, comme à la maison ! Nous avons passé des vacances riches et diversifiées : shopping dans les rues animées et excentriques de Brigton, visite du palais royal pour le moins atypique, balades sur le site des seven sisters et dans la campagne du Sussex, escapade à Londres (à une heure de train seulement) et bien d'autres activités... ”
Joanna's reviewsAs a host (3)
“Joana and Joaquin's house is so nicely decorated and new. It is so warm and we felt like home pretty soon. We enjoyed their big living-room and the view of the green garden from it so much. The location is very good, the house is uphill so we ofen went down to the city centre on foot in a nice 30 min walk and took a bus to go up, there are stops near the house and very frequent buses. Joanna and Joaquin were very nice and helpful from beginning to end and everything went on easily. Also, they took very good care of our house, it was all so tidy and clean. I highly recommend an exchange with them and Brighton and the beautiful Southdowns for a great trip.”
“Joanna\'s house was at the top of a hill which gave you a wonderful view of the houses of Brighton from the street at the front of the house. The walk down one street to the east was enjoyable and you could get the bus back up! If you didn\'t drive. The house is very English and was very comfortable with central heating, modern kitchen, comfortable bedrooms and lots of bathrooms. The backyard and gardens gave a lovely view from the lounge room. There were always birds to be seen in the yard and squirrels. The amazing thing about our stay here was that most venues were reached by walking from the house. You could be down in the centre of town in 15 minutes. Here there were shops, theatres, concerthall, pubs, restaurants and cafes; the Lanes for market type shopping and the railway station if you wanted to go further afield. Of course the promonade along the coast was just another 5 minutes walk with the pier and pebble beach, i 360 and marina. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend this house as a swap for anyone wanting to visit Sussex and other parts of the UK. Gatwick is easily accessible by train.”
Where is it?
Our neighbourhood is friendly one. It is mixed with families, couples and retired people. As we are on the top of a hil, it is a quiet area without traffic noise. There are plenty of shops and transport close by. It is a located a 15 minute walk from the centre of town and to the train station.
Brighton is a lively, seaside town with lots to offer everyone. There is plenty to do for families, for young people and for older people. There is the beach for swimming (pebbles!), a great promenade for walking and cycling with lots of bars and cafes, there is the famous Brighton Pier and the wonderful Lanes for shopping and dinning.
Brighton is known for its liberal and alternative lifestyle - we have a green MP, we are the gay capital of Britain and we have lots of people interested in green living and chilling out!
There is great shopping, fantastic nightlife, good museum, theatre and cinema.
Brighton is close to London - 50 minutes on the train to Victoria. It is also on the edge of the beautiful south downs for those who like walking and coastal sight seeing. The historic town of Lewes is close by.
