• Brick built open fire place (for Winter visitors only)

• Country walks close-by and from our back garden to Kennet & Avon canal, Savernake forest, Marlborough Downs, Ridgeway path
• World renowned Archaeology sites within 30 mins drive – Stonehenge and Avebury

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Our house is situated in a small hamlet in rural Wiltshire. We are 5 mile south of a busy and popular market town--Marlborough. Marlborough boasts the second widest high street in Britain and is home to a wide range of shops, cafes, restaurants, and pubs. Nearby are the Savernake Forest with miles of walking and cycling trails; and Neolithic monuments such as Avebury, the West Kennet Longbarrow, and Stonehenge. Its an easy day trip to Salisbury or Bath. There are numerous historic homes and gardens within striking distance and many local villages with good pubs. Fishing, walking, cycling, golf, riding, and many other activities are locally available.

Numerous country walks, paths, canal tow paths available directly from the house and close by. We have detailed Ordinance Survey maps of the local area and books suggesting popular routes. We have 4 adult bicycles (2 ladies, 2 x gents) which can be used on many of the local routes and forest tracks which have no traffic. The local walks and tracks also provide routes for those who want to run taking you through the picturesque countryside.
Day tripping
London is 75 mins away by train from the local station, Great Bedwyn which is 5 mins drive. Oxford, Bath, Bristol, Southampton, Bournemouth, Lyme Regis, Wessex/Dorset are all within 1-2 hour drive.
