We are in a victorian spa town situated near the beautiful Goyt valley, (10 mins walk away.) it is with in easy reach of Manchester (by train) and Sheffield. Excellent for mountain biking, rock climbing hill walking, horse riding. London is 2 hrs away by high speed train from neighbouring town, Maccelsfield.
Buxton has many arts, music and drama festivals during the summer. We have many friends in the road where we live, and there are sure to be invites for a visiting family to local bb ques! The opera house is 5 mins walk away and hosts many plays, comedy acts and mucicians of all generes an throughtout the year. There is a spa and beauty center that is run by students attached to Derbyshire university, and a private health club attached to a large hotel 5 mins away. The municipal swimming baths and liesure facilities are also nearby. There is an electic mix of resturants ranging from thai, indian and italian and swiss, all withwalking distance of the house. The shops are 10 mins walk away and include supermarkets and Marks and Spencer.- the shopping center is small, but has all the essentials. Buxton Carnival takes palce in June with all the Community taking part in shape or form, tro raise money for local causes. We feel that Buxton has the best of both worlds, a tranquill country setting with quick access to a rich cultural historical town.
