“Life is swings and roundabouts, you win a few and lose a few! This time we were on the winning side and so lucky to have the opportunity to spend a week in this great house in such a lovely location. It was our first visit to Cornwall which is stunningly beautiful and the weather was great too. The house is in a good location with beautiful views of Carbis Bay and a 20 minute coastal walk from St. Ives which is very scenic with lovely shops and restaurants. Kelvin and June, thank you so much for sharing your home with us. Eilish and Frank.”

About our home
Our holiday home in Carbis Bay (just one mile along the coast from St Ives in Cornwall England), is a contemporay detached house on a hill above Carbis bay beach. Sea views from the lounge look out to the beach and headland surrounding the famous Godrevy lighthouse. Carbis Bay itself has been internationally recognised as one of the most beautiful in the world. The house has a large lounge, large kitchen/dining room and a gallery landing which gives it a light and airey feel. Recently listed as a 5* Gold property by the English Tourist Board, it is furnished and maintained to a very high standard. A twenty minute coastal walk or 5 minute coastal train journey takes you into St Ives, with its range of beautiful beaches, surfing, fine restaurants and of course the Tate Gallery and Barbara Hepworth Museum.

Kelvin's reviews
As a host (3)““We had the pleasure of organising an exchange to Kelvin and June's beautiful holiday home. It is situated in a very nice area with excellent view. There is lots to do in the area and there is the beach within walking distance. St.Ives is such a pittoresk village. Kelvin and June visited my home at a later date and they left my house exactly as they found it. We would have no hesitation in recommending them as exchange partners. The communication was very open and smooth. Thank you for a lovely exchange and i would love to do it again some day.”
“Fabulous home on the most beautiful bay. We had many Train rides to St. Ives. The whole of Cornwall is a picture postcard. One can't say enough positive things about the whole exchange. A well appointed place to stay and with all the necessities to make the exchange a great one really made the trip. The experience was one of great food, Arts, festivals, and historic sites. The Sloop Inn is a great place to orient your vacation. Make sure you say hello to George at the Smock Shop next door to the Sloop and sing a sea chantey or two.”
More about us
-
We are Kelvin and June, a married couple (age 69 and 64) with two grown up daughters. We both retired in 2006 and are spending our time, before the arrival of grandchildren, travelling the world. We have now completed 15 successful exchanges. Non simultaneous exchanges are fine for us, as this house is used solely as our holiday home.
-
We always spend at least a month away each year in our campervan touring around Europe. We are therefore especially keen on non simultaneous house swaps with properties that have sufficient space to park our campervan during the stay. However we have also enjoyed swaps in USA, Canada, Australia, South America and the Caribbean, but without the campervan.

Where is it?
Neighbourhood
St Ives is located at the tip of Cornwall and benefits from a (for England) warm sunny and balmy climate courtesy of the gulf stream. This part of Cornwall has numerous beautiful rocky coves and beaches to explore. As Britain's number one beach holiday destination, there are a host of attractions and activities for all ages within the surrounding area. High class golf courses abound, with two particularly tough links courses very nearby. Surfing beaches and surf schools are dotted all along this part of the Cornish coast. The historic capital of Cornwall, Truro, is a short drive away. As are many renowned places made famous by the writer Daphne du Maurier, including the real Jamaica Inn and also places featured in the TV series Poldark. Carbis Bay beach, a short walk from the house, has been designated a Blue Flag beach for 2019.
