About our home

Points or classic swap :)

Open to suggestions, give us dates and we'll try to accommodate!

Check out our 2700 square foot house... Its bright and spacious and only 10 minutes drive from the centre of Belfast, this beautiful family home has the best of both worlds - city and country living! Boasting a huge mature garden, and tree lined avenue you'd be forgiven for thinking you were in the midst of the countryside! With four double bedrooms and two reception rooms this home and at over 2700 sq foot its spacious for any family and perfect for hosting friends.

The garden itself is a delight, with attractions for young and old. In fairness id say this was the main attraction of the house and its perfectly set up for kids.... It has a huge jungle gym, additional slides, hammock, a tree house and 14ft trampoline for the littlies (and sometimes the biggies if that takes your fancy!!) and lots of mature fruit trees (apples, plums, cherry trees, raspberry bushes) and a little greenhouse/veg patch for those who have green fingers.

There's also a large dining area to eat outside and fire pit to keep the cold away while listening for the hedgehogs snuffling in the hedgerows. They usually congregate under the tree house so lots of animals to look out for if you've an enquisitive nature loving child (or adult!!)

Downstairs in the property there's a newly decorated kitchen and large oak kitchen table along with floor to ceiling pantry and cupboard direct perfect for housing a fantastic dinner party! A tastefully decorated living room with gallery wall, triple sliding doors leading into the garden and a piano for the musicians/singers. Not forgetting the gas stove for those cold wintery nights. A further patio door also leads out onto the decking area where you can enjoy a drink or two surrounding by the flowers and birdsong.

Upstairs is plenty of space in the four bedrooms. High ceilings, a huge super king bed, with floor to ceiling windows looking out onto our garden and Stormont buildings (Parliament buildings on the hill) and walk in wardrobes in the main bedroom along with a newly installed brushed brush walk in shower and ensuite. The three other bedrooms all have double or king size beds with the exception of the children's room which has a triple sleeper bunk bed. Cot or travel cot available if needed aswell and plenty of room if an extra one or two wanted to join in on the fun!

***Also we have a smaller granny flat attached to the property, with its own bathroom, kitchen living room with sofa bed and king sized bed in the main bedroom... This is available to anyone who comes if they feel they need space from their family :)

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

We are situated close to the city yet only a two minutes walk to a beautiful river walk filled with wooden walkways and little waterfalls!
Beside our house is a beautiful home bakery, small local shop, a couple of small eateries and our childrens favourite, a Mauds ice cream shop!
We are ten minutes walk to the upmarket Forestside shopping centre and Ravenhill/Kingspan stadium - home of the Ulster Rugby team. And only a few minutes drive to stunning Stormont gardens and Ormeau Park.

If you fancied a trip into town you could visit the famous Titanic quarter where the ship itself was constructed over 100 years ago. Or take a dander through St Georges Market, a firm favourite on a Saturday /Sunday morning, buzzing with people and live music. Or take a Black taxi tour and get a feel for what the 'Troubles' was all about...
Belfast has so much to offer for young and old, come check it out!!
We are 1. 5 hours drive from Dublin and only an hour to the North coast and the famous Giants Causeway (or if you are a Game of Thrones fan, the Dark Hedges!!) Belfast is a fantastic base to visit all of Northern Ireland and further afield! We are within 15mins drive of beautiful Helens Bay with glorious sandy beaches and unbelievable rock pooling in Groomsport for those marine biologists out there. And less than an hours drive to the stunning Mourne Mountain range to get your hiking fix!
Come visit, you'll not regret it!!

Belfast City is right in our doorstep for a night out or for access to the best bars/restaurants. It has a fabulous children's science museum W5 www.w5online.com
And if course not forgetting the awesome Titanic museum and docks! Www.titanicbelfast.com

While we have numerous, safe, walking and biking trails very close by, we tend to make the 60 minute drive to the Mourne Mountains on a regular basis for 'proper' hillwalking - the scenery is stunning and there are many different levels of walking in the area.
(https://walkni.com/mourne-mountains-destination/), an hour and a half to Dublin (https://www.visitdublin.com/) and about the same distance to the North Coast - handy for visiting the Giant's Causeway. Northern Ireland is sure to appeal to those interested in food, music, culture and the great outdoors, with Belfast recently being voted UK's Best City (Guardian and Observer Travel Awards). We are about 40 minutes drive to the nearest sandy beaches, in Newcastle, and Murlough Beach and Nature Reserve is a great place to go for a walk (https://www.countryfile.com/go-outdoors/walks/murlough-national-nature-reserve-county-down-northern-ireland/) to view the basking seals and other wildlife.

St George's Market (https://visitbelfast.com/partners/st-georges-market/) is a traditional Victorian market and was recently voted Britain's best market and is one of Belfast's top attractions. It's especially great at Christmas time, where they have additional opening hours - great for crafts, food and music. We have a wealth of 'foodie' tours, showing off the best of local produce - you can even catch and cook your own fish if you can get up for the early start on the Catch and Sea tour. (https://discovernorthernireland.com/food-and-drink/tours-trails-and-experiences).

Northern Ireland also hosts many fabulous golf courses, all of which are within easy reach. For links golfers, we have the two 'Royals' - Royal Portrush (home of the 2019 British Open) and Royal County Down but we also have numerous parkland courses within easy reach.

. We have two exceptional living history museums in the vicinity, which are well worth a visit. The Ulster American Folk Park and the Folk and Transport museums (https://www.nmni.com/our-museums/Our-Museums.aspx) are a great way to spend a day. Belfast is great for indoor fun - with the Ice Bowl (Dundonald) for ice skating and Indianaland and We are Vertigo for the World's largest indoor inflatable park and Ninja Warrior Course. You can also do indoor skydiving lessons.
Another lovely trip for those of you who are fans of the series, The Game of Thrones, is to do a tour of the film locations https://visitbelfast.com/article/game-of-thrones-filming-locations-belfast-northern-ireland

We have Let’s Go Hydro, which is about a 10 minutes drive from our home, which is great fun – they have Ireland’s largest aquapark, cable wakeboarding, a drive in cinema and open water swimming, as well as other activities.

A lovely day trip would be to drive up to the Causeway Coastal Route on the North Coast to visit the Carrick-a-rede rope bridge, the Giant’s Causeway, Bushmills Whiskey Distillery (it’s the oldest licenced whiskey distillery in the world), Dunluce Castle and Mussenden Temple.
