Newly renovated Summer 2014, a small and cosy country getaway complete with wood burner and garden that opens on to fields and forest with the opportunity for endless walks. The cottage itself has a sitting room with wood burner & dry stack of wood, a walk-through dining room with door to the garden and a well equipped kitchen. On the first floor there are 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed the other with 2 singles all made up with fresh bedlinen and towels. The bathroom has a bath with decent water pressure for showers.
Just under 10 miles from the Jurassic coastline and Lyme Regis, the cottage is a true haven where you can trade city life for the tranquility of country life. Thorncombe is a popular village complete with charming shop, church and a school with keys available for use of their small swimming pool in the summer months. Local towns such as Beaminster and Bridport have much to offer whether sampling the local brew or just pottering through the Art and Vintage Quarter. Take in a movie at Bridport's wonderfully renovated arts cinema or a wood fire pizza on the beach at West Bay. There are excellent restaurants and gastro pubs to recommend in every direction and after walking off lunch you can put your feet up by the log fire with a good read. If summer days are calling there's lots to do with the kids, exploring beaches and hunting for fossils on the world famous Jurassic coastline or a trip out fishing for mackerel. For fun closer to home, the village has two fantastic playgrounds (one for toddlers and an adventure playground for older) just 3 minutes from the cottage complete with zip wire and basket ball hoop. A short walk away there's a forest, great for making dens or getting lost amongst the bluebells.
If you're planning on enrolling on one of Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall's many courses at River Cottage HQ and need a couple of night's accommodation we are just 7 miles away.
Or one of Guy Mallinson's Green Wood Craft Workshops set in a mystical location in the woods just 2 miles up the road.
A holiday to remember no matter your age, with one of the most beautiful swathes of countryside on your door step recognized as an Area of Natural Outstanding Beauty bordering Somerset, Devon & Dorset.
A car to explore is really an essential unless you are content to explore on foot; the village shop is stocked well for all groceries and local produce and has a deli counter. There are a number of farm shops further afield.
Depending on your likes and dislikes I will be able to suggest great walks and days out with some excellent restaurants to match.
