About our home

Charlton Down is a brand new village set in the heart of the Dorset countryside, close to the county town of Dorchester and within the Parish of Charminster.

There are many activities that take place in the village, including a Cricket Club, with it’s own cricket pavilion; children's play park, a fabulous village hall with the best sprung dance floor in Dorset, our very own gym and health spa and last but not least, the shop.

Charlton Down is an excellent location for exploring the outstanding natural beauty of Dorset. Here you will find some of the most exquisite beaches in the UK, such as Weymouth Bay, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Sanbanks... I could go on! The rural landscape and coastal paths are one not to be missed; just down the road is the Cerne Abbas Giant.

The historic market town of Dorchester is about a 5 minute drive away here you will find a variety of restaurants, pubs, shops and museums to keep you busy. There a 2 train stations in Dorchester providing excellent links to London and other parts of the country. There is also a regular bus service from Charlton Down.

Dorset is the perfect place for a summer getaway for couples and families.
