“We completed a two-week exchange with Gisela and Gerard this August and had a wonderful experience. Their house is wonderfully romantic and enormous and so close to the town centre of Cheltenham that we made a habit of walking somewhere every day. There is a lovely bike/walking path just up the road that provided a secure, picturesque and quiet shortcut to downtown and we used it extensively to shop, visit cafes and go to the theatre. We enjoyed fresh eggs from the chicken coop in the back each day and I twice harvest mulberries to bake pie from their tree which was dripping with ripe fruit. The area is surrounded by historic sites and we rented electric bikes from the shop located just up the road to tackle a 50km ride through all the villages just north of Cheltenham. One of our highlights was a roadside picnic on a carved wooded bench complete with sausage rolls, sandwiches and a bottle of French wine, sans glasses. Near the end of our visit we spent a lovely evening with the host's sister Gina and her husband Kenneth, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Can't say enough good about our experience in England, our exchange partners and their beautiful house.”

About our home
Our house is a beautiful, large Victorian property built in 1857. It is in Cheltenham Spa in the English Cotswolds famous for its beautiful Regency Architecture. The house has been totally renovated and extended over the last year and we have nearly finished the outside decking which has a sunken jacuzzi and built in BBQ area as well as landscaping the garden. The house has five bedrooms and four bathrooms. It has a heated swimming pool which is fenced off and therefore ideal for families. We have a young family ourselves with three girls aged 8,12 and 13. The house has a lovely kitchen with top of the range Miele ovens, instant hot water taps and everything that you could possibly need to make your stay comfortable. There is access to high speed wireless internet and fantastic bang and olufsen speakers which will connect up to any of your mobile devices. We have a maid who will clean the house Most days and is very happy to babysit and a gardener who will also clean the pool and jacuzzi. We also have a car which can be made available.

We are Gisela and Gerard, a married couple with three gorgeous girls aged 8, 12 and 13. We run a childrens nursery school and Gerard also has a company specializing in consultancy for the defence industry. We love travelling and have had 7 very sucessful house swaps. Each one has been fantastic and given the children an oppurtunity to see more of the world. We would look after your house as if it were our own and treat it with respect. We look forward to exchanging!

Cheltenham Spa is a wonderful town and our house is a five minute walk from the railway station and walking distance to the boutique shops and restaurants of Montpellier. Cheltenham Spa is surrounded by hills containing wonderful villages that attract many tourists. Cirencester, Burford, Bourton-on-the-Water, Kingham, Morten-in-Marsh and Stow-on-the Wold are within 30 minutes drive. We are also close (within one hour) to Stratford upon Avon famous for the Royal Shakespeare Theatre (and where William Shakespeare was born), Oxford, Bristol and Birmingham. Our nearest airports are Birmingham and Bristol (both about 70 mins drive away). London is 1 hour and 45 minutes away and all these places can be accessed by train.
Cheltenham is in a valley and the surrounding hills are fantastic for walking and cycling. There are a variety of lovely shops, restaurants and bars and a great theatre. In the summer there are numerous activities laid on for children in all the parks and at the museum. The Cotswold farm park and Cotswold wildlife park are also close by and great for the kids. Slimbridge is good for bird watching and is a wetland reserve park. Gloucester cathedral which is 10 minutes away is worth a visit. Cirencester which is 25 minutes away has lovely lakes which are great for water-skiing and boating. Bibury which is a famous Cotswold village also has trout fishing which the kids love. Cheltenham is also famous for it's many festivals that are held throughout the year including the Literature, Jazz, Science and food and drink festivals. Horse racing is also famous in Cheltenham. If you like horse riding there are plenty of places to ride. There is so much to see and do around Cheltenham that I'm sure you'll have a great time.
