About our home

NOW THAT LOCKDOWN IS EASING, WE ARE EAGERLY LOOKING FOR A WEEK'S SWAP IN THE UK 12-19 APRIL 2021!

First, location matters! We live in a market town called Chesham which is in Buckinghamshire, one of the Home Counties bordering London. We are a 5-min walk to a London underground station on the metropolitan line, with direct tubes to the centre of London. Indeed, both parents in this family work in central London - an easy commute. It is a cost-effective base to explore London whilst providing heaps more space and comfort to rest and recover at the end of a long day. We are a 30-40 min drive from Heathrow airport and half an hour from Luton. The beautiful city of Oxford is 45 minutes away. Other very local attractions (under half an hour) are: the Harry Potter Studios, the Roald Dahl museum, national trust properties such as Cliveden and Waddesdon Manor plus numerous forest and country walks. In short there is plenty to keep the whole family entertained. A particular highlight of our area is that there are tons of holiday camps during Easter, summer and half term breaks for children. Our own children participate in theatre, cricket, tennis, swimming and forest schools; I can provide you with further information on how to book these. It could be a great way to improve your child's English language skills!

We recently completed a major renovation of our historic home. We can offer you

- 5 bedrooms (1 super-king, 1 king-size, 3 single beds, with 2 further pull out singles). We can sleep many people but it would be ideal for a group or family of 4-6.
- 3 bathrooms (1 freestanding deep bath tub, 2 walk-in showers)
- 1 office
- Large (100m sq) open-plan kitchen/dining/TV room with underfloor heating and wirelessly operated sound system and ceiling speakers throughout
- Sun-catching terrace for al fresco dining and 160m sq lawn to rear with apple trees and views of the Chiltern hills beyond.

Our house was carefully and lovingly renovated over 9 months and completed in March 2018. The kitchen is fitted with high-end appliances and gadgets and is a cook's paradise with marble-style work tops and 3m island. The main bathroom has a walk-in shower and freestanding bathtub; the second bathroom has a large shower cubicle. There is a toilet on the ground floor too. We have used a lot of colour in our home and have worked hard to retain period features, e.g. 3-metre high ceilings; large sash windows; fireplaces and original doors. At the same time, it has been furnished to the highest, on-trend standards with new parquet flooring, Crittal (steel) doors and large sliding doors to the garden. There is plenty of natural light and it is warm and comfortable throughout the year.

We have a brand new car which we would be happy to offer to you during your stay at extra cost. We have booster seats for the kids.

Please do check our diary of availability before sending swap requests. Our children are all in school so we cannot travel outside their school holidays (Easter, summer, Christmas and some half term breaks). We are open to offers for Easter 2020 and beyond.

Cleaning fees payable at the time of booking - £100. This will make sure your house is cleaned before and after you leave.

Neighbourhood

Location: A grand Edwardian town house dating back to 1899, a 5-minute walk to the London underground (tube) network - the metropolitan line - with trains directly to central London in less than an hour. But equally, we are surrounded by the most glorious and unspoilt Buckinghamshire countryside (the Chiltern Hills). Country walks are numerous and easy to begin right from our front door. Our tree-lined street has some of the grandest and most beautiful houses in Chesham. Lowndes Park is a stone's throw away (visible from some of the bedroom windows) and there, you will find a children's park, a lake, an astro pitch for football and paths that lead straight onto the Chiltern walking trails.

The house: 5 bedrooms (2 king-size beds; 3 single beds), 3 bathrooms, 1 office, large (100m sq) open-plan kitchen/dining/TV room with underfloor heating throughout, sun-catching terrace for al fresco dining, 160m sq lawn to rear with apple trees and view of the hills beyond. Everything is brand new. The house was completely renovated over 9 months and completed in Feb/March 2018. The kitchen is fitted with luxurious appliances and is a cook's paradise. The main bathroom has a walk-in shower and freestanding bathtub; the second bathroom has a large shower cubicle. There is a toilet on the ground floor too. We have used a lot of colour in our home and worked hard to retain period features, e.g. 3-metre high ceilings; large sash windows; fireplaces and original doors. At the same time, it has been furnished to the highest standards with parquet flooring, Crittal (steel) doors and large sliding doors to the garden.
