About our home

Small quiet ground-floor apartment in 2 storey building in a small development (2 blocks of 4 appts). Traditional brick built buildings. 2 bedrooms (one currently used as a dining room). Bath w. shower. Sitting & Dining rooms both look out over the River Dee and the water meadows on the other side. Distant view of Town Hall & Cathedral. Row boat available.


More about us

  1. I & my husband, are in our 70s - both retired. Enjoy music; theatre; the arts; travel. He, Dennis, was formerly in the Civil Service mostly working on computers fo the last half of his career. I, Hilary, was an English lecturer in a further education college. I have 3 children in their 40s, all live nearby & will be on hand to help if any problems (though there shouldn't be any).

Where is it?


The apartment is on a leafy minor road one mile from the centre the Roman city of Chester. Chester is a defensive border town on the R. Dee, with encircling part-roman wall; Roman ruins; Fascinaating old (14-19th century) buildings; theatre and a racecourse (the oldest in England). By road it's 2 miles to the Welsh border; 30 miles to the Welsh seaside & 1hr30m to the ferry to Ireland from Holyhead. Manchester & Liverpool airports are an hour away. Good Trains to London (2h 30m) and other destinations. Easy access to motorway network. Lots of music; classical & jazz; theatre/ cinemas; good restaurants. Excellent range of local shops; big supermarket & shopping centre half a mile; no end of superb shops in city centre 1 mile away.
