About our home

Our home was completely rebuilt in 2016 and is now a light, beautiful, contemporary open plan family home spread across the main house and a self contained studio. Central London is only 35 minutes by train from Berkhamsted - a 10 minute drive away.

In the main house, we have a large brand new kitchen, two living areas, three bedrooms (one queen bedroom, two with single beds one with an additional trundle), two bathrooms, plus separate toilet and a huge outdoor terrace overlooking the garden and surrounding countryside. In the garden's self contained studio, we have a small kitchen, bathroom and a mezzanine sleeping area for two.

We are located in a quintessential English village - pub, cricket oval, churches - within the Chilterns Area of Natural Outstanding Beauty.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

In Cholesbury, you have the best of both worlds, you are surrounded by the stunning Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, but yet still close to the bustling market towns of Berkhamsted and Tring and only a 35 minute train ride into central London. Days out seeing all that London has to offer and then when you're ready to get away from it, there is so much countryside to explore, wildlife to see and historic buildings to visit.

Buzzy restaurants
Whether you're looking for a fancy restaurant, a cosy pub or a place to get a quick bit to eat, there are a whole host of eateries in Berkhamsted, Tring and the surrounding villages. Our favourites are Porters in Berkhamsted for a swish restaurant, The Alfred Arms, in Frithsden for family celebrations.
Cool bars
The surrounding area is full of traditional English pubs - full of locals, craft beers, plenty of dogs and muddy boots with the Full Moon in walking distance.
Cozy cafés
Berkhamsted is full of great independent cafes. Our favourites are Fred & Ginger (hipster coffee) and I Love Food (Sicilian). Tring also has plenty of great cafes. We like Black Goo best.
Retail therapy
The market towns of Berkhamsted and Tring are a few miles away. Both high streets offer plenty of small clothes boutiques, interesting antique showrooms, local micro breweries and supermarkets, like Waitrose and M&S.
Bit of culture
There is a historic walking tour of Berkhamsted, which includes the remains of a Norman Castle with a fascinating history. Tring Natural History Museum is a few miles up the road and the Roald Dahl museum in Great Missenden is amazing for families.
Walks in the park
There are literally hundreds of beautiful local walks. The closest is a footpath directly from the front gate, taking you on a circular route around an Iron Age Hill Fort, ancient beech woods and Cholesbury Common. A few miles away are Wendover Woods, where Roald Dahl based his famous novel, Danny the Champion of the World. A little father away, but only a 15 minute drive, is Ashridge Estate, an amazing ancient forest. The carpets of bluebells, which flower in the spring are renowned and seeing the huge wild stags during the rutting season is pretty special.
Spot of exercise
The Tring Park Run is a favourite every Saturday morning. Champneys Health Spa is walking distance (just) and has a swimming pool, gym and spa facilities.
Day tripping
Day trips into central London are easy to organise, with fast train links from Berkhamsted (35 mins) and Tring (40 mins) into London Euston. Alternatively you can catch the London Underground in from Chesham (3 miles away).
