About our home

Our wee 'Tractor Shed' is an 1860's stone farm building converted in 2016 from a grain store and tractor shed to a modern, stylish and comfortable wee home. The small house is situated in the main yard of our croft overlooking the slopes of Ben Wyvis and the mountains towards the West. We live across the yard in the old farm cottage. We share our home with a few hundred sheep, some chickens and a happy cat. We are situated close to Loch Ness and many other beautiful Highland spots and are right on the start of the North Coast 500 route. The perfect base from which to explore the lovely Highlands! Please be aware that there is a spiral staircase and sloping ceilings to the upstairs bedroom.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

The Black Isle is a small farming peninsula just about 10 miles north of Inverness. We are a short drive away from the famed Loch Ness and also close to the Cairngorm Mountain, We are not too distant from the West Coast and the Isle of Skye. There are an abundance of distilleries surrounding the area and many beautiful beaches with many chances to indulge in quiet nature and unspoilt spaces. We are situated on a West facing hillside in the midst of a small farming community, about 7 miles from the nearest town. Our area is peaceful, the busiest sounds are the cockerel in the morning and the hum of a tractor somewhere in the distance in the afternoon. In winter, we have clear skies and are occasionally lucky to see the Northern lights. The house is situated on a working farm so there is some activity in the yard on most days but guests are welcome to explore and interact.
