“Yvonne and I had a very nice time at Deal, Kent. The home was clean and tidy and the instructions were easy to follow. We only slept there and had breakfast as we were out every day. So much to see and do in Kent. I had no problems with parking at all. It was January and cold but the home was nice and cosy. Thanks Catherine, we loved our stay.”

About our home
Our holiday home is a four storey Grade II listed terraced house, built during the 1790s in the very pretty Conservation area of the historic Kent town of Deal. A stone's throw from the beach, this house has been thoughtfully and lovingly renovated and is perfect for families and friends. It is full of character and retains many original features including wood panelling in several rooms. . The modern fitted kitchen is well-equipped for you to prepare meals that can be enjoyed in the adjoining conservatory dining area, giving an alfresco feel to all meals. Two sitting rooms on the ground and basement levels offer plenty of space to relax, spiral period stairs lead to three attractive bedrooms spread over the two upper floors along with a family bathroom and an additional separate toilet and basin on the first level. The house is 1250 square feet (115 sq metres) arranged over four floors with solid oak flooring throughout except on the stairs and in the two sitting rooms which have carpet and rugs.
The walled rear courtyard garden is a real sun trap during the summer months and has a dining table and chairs - it is the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine whilst taking in the sea air.
The master bedroom has a 6 foot superking size bed and original wood panelling and has charm in abundance. The upper floor has a cosy double bedroom and a spacious twin bedroom, both with a very seaside feel and ample storage. There are two single sofa beds in the basement sitting room.
Amenities: Gas central heating. Electric oven and gas hob, microwave, 2 fridges, freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, 2 x Smart TVs with Freeview, DVD, free WiFi, selection of books, games and DVDs. Free roadside parking 3 mins walk. Enclosed courtyard garden with furniture and secure rear entrance gate. Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Shops, pubs and beach 2 mins walk.
Note: Due to age and period of the house the basement sitting room ceiling is low (6 foot), and both stairways are spiral and steep so it not suitable for less mobile guests.
There is a £80 charge for cleaning and laundry payable in advance.
Deal train station is a 10 minute walk and there are frequent direct trains to London (90 minutes journey to King's Cross/St Pancras). Eurostar trains to France depart from Ashford International (40 mins away) or if you prefer you can catch a ferry from Dover (15 mins ) or the Eurotunnel from Folkestone (30 mins).

“Catherine sent through detailed information regarding the property. A lovely family home by the sea. We had a fantastic week waiting for our cross channel relay whilst the weather calmed down. Plenty of swimming in the sea and visiting the area. Would highly recommend the place.”
“This is a lovely house a stones throw from the beach. We had a lovely weekend in deal and Catherine is a great host. Excellent communication throughout and very clear details on every aspect. Highly recommend Samphire House!”
“We had a wonderful stay in Deal. The house is a stone's throw from the beach (our four year old was furious there was no sand) and there are shops and restaurants aplenty for interesting browsing and eating. Local people were very friendly and English Heritage have a huge number of castles etc. to visit very locally. Dover Castle in particular was a favourite.”
“Catherine and Peter were fabulous guests, and the entire experience was excellent — among the best in a decade of swaps through LHS. We enjoyed great communications throughout, to the point that it felt less like a swap and more like good friends coming to stay! Kind, considerate, enthusiastic, appreciative and so well organised — they were both delightful and the staff enjoyed looking after them. Any LHS member would be fortunate to have the chance of arranging a swap with Catherine and Peter. Thank you for swapping with us!”
