About our home

Very private, secluded, bungalow, (2 double bedrooms), recently modernised to a beautiful home, with outlook over the Irish Sea to Scotland and the Isle of Man (on a clear day!). (A third bedroom is utilised as an office). While this is our main home, we have a live-aboard boat on Lough Erne, Co Fermanagh and regularly vacate the house in summer to holiday on the boat, leaving the house available for a swap or for points. The property has a private, screened, 6 person jacuzzi hot tub, which can be made available by arrangement. In the event of rain, a remote controlled, canvas canopy can be deployed to keep hot tub users dry! A remote comtrolled, electric gate secures the property at the front. A BBQ is available for the use of guests.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a full size electric oven, 4 ring gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, large fridge and a wide range of cooking utensils. There is also washing machine, drier and a freezer in the garage. The bungalow has gas central heating and there is a wood burner in the lounge to keep you cosy if necessary.

There are 2 bathrooms/toilets, one with a bath and the other, a modern shower room, complete with drencher overhead shower and also a handheld shower head.

The property is within 5 minutes walk to Donaghadee, Co Down town centre, where there are several excellent restaurants, bars, a post office, shops etc. There are good bus connections to Bangor and Belfast. In Bangor, the bus station is combined with the train station, where the train leaves for Belfast, with connections from Belfast throughout Ireland.

Car (Ford Focus 5 door automatic) available by arrangement. Two modern bicycles are also available for the use of guests to explore the Ards Peninsula at a more leisurely pace.

For golfers, Northern Ireland is a golfers paradise, with over 100 courses to choose from - including several championship courses such as Royal County Down, Royal Portrush (both links courses). (http://www.top100golfcourses.co.uk/golf-courses/britain-ireland/northern-ireland). Donaghadee has it's own course, which is approx 2 miles away, with beautiful views over the Irish Sea and the Copeland Islands, just offshore.

It should also be noted that the British Open Golf Championship 2019 will be played over the Royal Portrush Golf Club course, (a links course), during the 1st week in July. We are approximately 80 miles from Portrush (90 min by car) or, alternatively, there will be special trains running from Bangor (6 miles away) to Belfast and onwards to Portrush.

In recent years, Northern Ireland has become a popular destination, with over 80 cruise liners calling in Belfast during 2016. From Donaghadee, you can visit anywhere in N Ireland within 60 - 90 minutes by car, including the Giant's Causeway, the mountains of Mourne and the Antrim Coast Road. The Titanic Centre in Belfast (named recently as 'Europe's leading tourist attraction' at the 'World Travel Awards' in Sardinia, Italy, having attracted over 3 million tourists in the past 4 years), is 40 minutes away . Visit 'Game of Thrones' venues, including the 'Dark Hedges' near Bushmills. (www.discovernorthernireland.co.uk).

Belfast International Airport is approx 1h by car, while George Best Belfast City Airport is 30 min by car (or taxi). Dublin Airport offers more international flights and is approx 2h 15m by car.
