About our home

This substantial 3 bedroomed house at the centre of a small Cumbrian village is our second home. We eat breakfast in the kitchen but there's also a separate dining room for evening meals. The kitchen has a large electric range-style cooker and a fridge freezer, with a dishwasher and washing machine in the utility room. A log burning stove keeps the sitting room cosy in the winter and the comfy leather sofas add to the feeling of relaxation. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms, 2 with double beds and one with 2 singles. The large upstairs bathroom had a shower cubical and a free standing slipper bath, toilet and wash handbasin and there's a second toilet downstairs.
Outside there's a small but sunny walled garden with a 'Sun Parlour' for relaxing in with an afternoon cup of tea. The garden is secure for both children and dogs.

We bought this house to be our holiday home, firstly because we loved the small village it's in and secondly because it's only a stone's throw away from a great pub which serves food and real ales. It's right in the middle of the village but there's not much traffic and the walls are so thick you wouldn't notice the noise even if there was any!
There is a play park suitable for young children about 3 mins walk away and it's not much further till you get out onto the footpaths and into the lovely Eden Valley countryside. The village parish has fishing rights on the Eden, day tickets available locally at only £5 a day!
There are no shops in the village but 2 miles away is a neighboring village with a Co-op selling virtually everything you could want (open 8am-10pm). You can also catch a train on the Settle to Carlise railway here, for a day trip to the Yorkshire Dales.
Our house is in a village less than 10 miles from the Lake District National Park. We can drive to both Pooley Bridge and Keswick in about 20 Mins. We love walking on the Lakeland Fells but then prefer to get away from all the tourists at the end of the day and go home to a 'proper' village!

My husband is an Architect and I am an Education Consultant. We are both in our early 50's and now have the freedom to travel -but restricted mainly to the school holidays due to my job.
We would like to swap for weekends/long weekends anywhere in the UK where we can get to on a Friday night.
We are also keen to swap for a week or two during the school Easter and Summer holidays (End of July - August).
We love walking (especailly in mountains), mountain biking and lovely countryside. We also have a House in Alnwick, Northumberland - ref 25338, so could do non-simultaneous swaps.
We speak English and I have a little Spanish.
We have made 2 very successful swaps already and are keen to do more. We are open to suggestion from anywhere in the world so please tempt us with your suggestion.
